"Enabling people with an intellectual disability to have full and meaningful lives through quality person-centred services in partnership with families"

The Organisation:

Cheeverstown is a voluntary organisation, regulated by the Health Information & Quality Authority (HIQA).

We provide a wide range of person-centred services, including Supported Living, respite and day services, to almost 400 adults with an intellectual disability in the south Dublin area.

Purpose of the Post:

To provide leadership and support in ensuring that people with intellectual disabilities living in the house experience a safe, stable, person-centred and meaningful home life, while promoting their independence, personal development, community inclusion and overall wellbeing. Please note the role of "Person in Charge" may be a requirement of this role.

Responsibilities :

Provide a safe, stable, secure and welcoming home environment that promotes the wellbeing, dignity, rights and independence of each service user.
Take responsibility for the effective day-to-day management and operation of the house, ensuring staff supervision, rostering and ensuring high standards of support are maintained.
Support individuals to develop and maintain daily living skills, enabling each individual to achieve their maximum potential and greater independence.
Promote community inclusion and participation, supporting individuals to access and engage in meaningful community activities and opportunities.
Plan, organise and participate in social, recreational and meaningful activities based on the interests, preferences and individual needs of residents.
Ensure the safe storage, management and administration of medication in accordance with Cheeverstown policies, procedures and relevant legislation.
Develop and maintain positive and effective relationships with individuals' families, promoting open communication and partnership working.
Maintain strong links with day services and other relevant professionals, ensuring continuity and consistency of support.
Maintain accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date records relating to individuals supported and the operation of the house.
Facilitate individual planning processes, working collaboratively with individuals to identify, establish and review meaningful goals and outcomes.
Attend and contribute positively to house meetings, promoting effective communication, teamwork and shared decision-making.
Ensure all accidents, incidents and safeguarding concerns are reported and managed promptly in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
Identify and report maintenance, health and safety issues or defects within the house and contribute to the coordination of repairs, improvements and environmental enhancements.
Participate fully in mandatory and ongoing professional development and training.
Ensure full compliance with Cheeverstown policies, procedures, standards and professional requirements.
Promote and maintain a high standard of safety, including safety pause, participation in regular evacuation drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
Manage the house budget and financial resources responsibly and in accordance with organisational procedures.
Support individuals to manage their personal finances, promoting financial independence, choice and accountability.
Maintain accurate financial records and individual account books for individuals, ensuring transparency and compliance with relevant procedures.

Essential Criteria:

Qualification in Management
Relevant professional qualification (min level 7) in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, Nursing or an equivalent recognised qualification or CORU Registration
Relevant experience working with people with intellectual disabilities
Full, clean and valid driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle, with the ability and willingness to drive as required by the service.
Demonstrable understanding and application of person-centred practice.
Experience supporting individuals to develop independence, daily living skills and personal outcomes.
Understanding of safeguarding, prevention of abuse, health and safety and risk management.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build and maintain positive and respectful relationships with people supported, families, colleagues and other professionals.
Strong organisational, administrative, IT and record-keeping skills.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative in the day-to-day delivery of the service.
Commitment to promoting choice, dignity, rights, independence, inclusion and quality of life.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
Flexibility and willingness to participate in training and ongoing professional development.

Desirable Criteria

Previous experience in a senior, supervisory or leadership role within an intellectual disability service.
Experience in the day-to-day management of a residential home or community-based service.
Experience with person-centred planning frameworks.
Experience managing budgets.
Experience working closely with families, day services and multidisciplinary teams.
Knowledge of relevant disability services legislation, standards and regulatory requirements.

Flexibility

In order to maintain the highest possible standards of care, Cheeverstown requires staff to be flexible in their duties and/or working hours. This requirement for flexibility includes mobility and interchangeability within Cheeverstown Centre and between Cheeverstown services, as the management may from time to time and within reason see fit.

Hours

39 hour working week

Salary will be paid at Social Care Leader scale as per Dept. of Health & Children, and will be reflective of experience.
