The Hotel Kilmore in Cavan, part of Calusade Hotels group, is currently hiring a Kitchen Porter.

JOB PURPOSE

The Kitchen Porter is responsible for maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene and organisation throughout the kitchen, back-of-house areas and food preparation spaces.

This is a hands-on role within a fast-paced kitchen environment, requiring reliability, good organisation and close attention to detail. The successful candidate will support kitchen operations by carrying out cleaning and hygiene duties, following HACCP standards, adhering to compliance procedures, and assisting the kitchen team during busy service periods.

The Kitchen Porter plays a key role in maintaining a safe, clean and efficient working environment, supporting teamwork and consistent operational standards across the department.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning & Hygiene Standards

Keep all kitchen areas, pot wash stations, back-of-house corridors, storage areas and waste disposal points to the highest cleanliness standards.
Follow HACCP and food safety procedures at all times.
Complete cleaning schedules and hygiene records accurately and consistently.
Carry out deep cleaning tasks as scheduled.
Use and store cleaning chemicals and equipment correctly.
Follow all waste disposal procedures correctly.

Operational Support

Work hands-on within the kitchen, particularly during busy service periods.
Support chefs and kitchen staff with operational requirements as needed.
Ensure clean crockery, cutlery, utensils and kitchen equipment are available at all times.
Assist with deliveries, stock rotation and storage organisation.
Clean and maintain equipment appropriately.

Teamwork

Work cooperatively with colleagues and kitchen staff to ensure smooth service.
Communicate any hygiene, stock or equipment issues to senior kitchen staff promptly.
Follow instructions from chefs, management or supervisors accurately and promptly.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience in a Kitchen Porter role within hospitality preferred.
Strong understanding of HACCP and kitchen hygiene standards.
Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
Strong organisational and communication skills.
Good understanding of health & safety procedures.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy periods as required.
