Poised on the edge of Galway Bay where land meets sea, The Hawthorn by Galway Bay is positioned to be Ireland’s newest 5-star hotel, a destination designed by nature and refined by you nestled along the Wild Atlantic Way. Surrounded by native hawthorn trees and perched beside an 18-hole championship golf course, The Hawthorn by Galway Bay features 114 meticulously designed bedrooms, 47 of which are suites, a beautiful spa with wellness spaces, destination dining, and panoramic views of the Atlantic coast.

Opening in May 2026, this is a rare opportunity to shape the standards, service, and spirit of a landmark hotel, from its first guest to its lasting legacy.

The 2 Iron Team Member supports the delivery of seamless, high-quality service throughout dining outlets. This role contributes directly to the guest experience by providing attentive, efficient, and professional service in alignment with the business’s hospitality standards. With a focus on operational readiness, guest engagement, and consistent execution, the Food & Beverage Assistant plays a key part in maintaining the business refined atmosphere and supporting the wider front-of-house team.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver warm, attentive, and personalised service across all guest touchpoints.
Present menus, answer questions, and guide guests through offerings with confidence and clarity.
Support proactive guest engagement, anticipating needs and ensuring a positive dining experience.
Address guest requests promptly, escalating to supervisors when required.
Assist with table setup, service flow, and clearing in alignment with service standards.
Support the delivery of food and beverages, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and presentation consistency.
Maintain the dining area’s cleanliness, ambience, and readiness throughout service periods.
Assist in restocking service stations, linens, and operational supplies.
Assist with reservation flow, seating coordination, and communication with the front desk as needed.
Work collaboratively with the kitchen and bar teams to support smooth service transitions.
Follow daily checklists, SOPs, and operational requirements to maintain consistent service quality.
Adhere to all food hygiene, safety, and allergen protocols.
Maintain strong knowledge of standards relating to service etiquette and responsible alcohol service.
Ensure all service equipment and areas meet hygiene and cleanliness expectations.
Work closely with supervisors and managers to support service priorities.
Participate in pre-service briefings to stay informed of specials, menu changes, and key service notes.
Support colleagues as needed to uphold a cohesive, high-performing team environment.

Required Experience & Skills

Previous experience in a hospitality or customer-facing role preferred but not required.
Strong communication skills with a positive, guest-focused mindset.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining service standards.
Willingness to learn, take direction, and grow within the food and beverage team.
Must complete all mandatory training as required, including HACCP, Manual Handling, and Responsible Service of Alcohol.

This Job Description will be review and updated on an annual basis with the Director of Food and Beverage.

Candidates need to be eligible to work in Ireland.
