The Clybaun Hotel is seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Bar Supervisor to join our team. Reporting to the Food & Beverage Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the daily operation of the hotel bar, ensuring exceptional guest service, supporting and developing the bar team, and maintaining the highest standards of quality, presentation, and compliance. This is a hands-on role that requires strong leadership, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & Bar Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the hotel bar, ensuring service is delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.
- Lead the team by example, providing friendly, professional, and attentive service to every guest.
- Ensure all drinks are prepared and presented in line with the hotel's quality standards.
- Maintain a clean, organised, and fully operational bar, ensuring all service and storage areas meet hotel standards.
- Deal with guest enquiries and feedback in a courteous and timely manner, resolving issues whenever possible.
- Assist in delivering exceptional bar service for weddings, conferences, banquets, and other special events.
Team Management
- Support, guide, and motivate the bar team to consistently deliver excellent customer service.
- Organise daily duties and ensure the team is working efficiently throughout each shift.
- Assist with the training and development of new and existing team members.
- Encourage a positive team culture built on communication, respect, and professionalism.
- Liaise closely with the Food & Beverage Manager and colleagues across other departments to ensure a seamless guest experience.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure the bar operates in accordance with Irish licensing legislation and responsible alcohol service practices.
- Maintain compliance with HACCP, food safety, health and safety, and hygiene regulations.
- Complete opening and closing procedures accurately and ensure company standards are consistently maintained.
- Follow all hotel policies and procedures while promoting a safe working environment for both guests and colleagues.
Stock & Financial Responsibilities
- Assist with stock control, ordering, stock rotation, and inventory management.
- Monitor stock usage and help minimise waste and unnecessary costs.
- Carry out cash handling and till procedures accurately, reporting any discrepancies as required.
- Contribute to achieving departmental sales, profitability, and operational objectives.
General Duties
- Participate in daily shift briefings and communicate important operational information to the team.
- Take responsibility for the smooth operation of the bar in the absence of the Food & Beverage Manager.
- Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a proactive attitude at all times.
- Carry out any additional duties that support the successful operation of the Food & Beverage department.
Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a similar role within a hotel, bar, or hospitality environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate others.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A genuine passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to perform well under pressure.
- A good understanding of Irish licensing legislation, HACCP, and Health & Safety practices.
- Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- A positive, can-do attitude and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
