HIQA is an independent authority established to drive high-quality and safe care for people using our health and social care services in Ireland. Our role is to develop standards, inspect and review health and social care services and support informed decisions on how services are delivered. Research Officer - Health Information and Standards

Location: Dublin, Cork or Galway
Grade: Engineer Grade III
Tenure: 1 x immediate permanent vacancy, 1 x immediate fixed term vacancy
Additionally, HIQA may create a panel for future permanent and fixed term vacancies that may arise.

HIQA exists to improve health and social care services for the people of Ireland. HIQA’s role is to develop standards, inspect and review health and social care services and support informed decisions on how services are delivered. The Health Information and Standards (HIS) Directorate has five teams. As vacancies arise, the successful candidates will join one of the following teams:

Governance, Research and Strategy: drives quality and consistency in governance, strategy and research related activity across the HIS Directorate.
National Care Experience Programme: conducts national programmes of engagement across a range of health services, in conjunction with the Department of Health, Mental Health Commission and the HSE.
Health Information Quality and Assurance: advises on the efficient and secure collection and sharing of health information, assessing compliance against national standards for national data collection and ehealth services, and evaluating information resources to support health and social care services in Ireland.
Health Information Standards: sets national standards and develops frameworks and guidance to support the exchange of health and social care information.
National Standards for health and social care services: develops person-centred standards and guidance, based on evidence and international best practice, for health and social care services.

The research officer will work in a team environment to deliver projects. Examples of projects include national standards, implementing a national engagement project and developing national guidance. This is a varied and interesting role, encompassing research, stakeholder engagement, administration, operations and coordination of team activities.

Essential:

Degree qualification (minimum of Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent) in health or social care-related areas, health services management, a health-related science with a high content in health services research, or a discipline deemed relevant to the role by the Authority

and

A minimum of 12 months relevant post-graduate work experience in the following areas: (note: work conducted as part-fulfilment of an academic award at degree or masters level should not be included here).
- Practical experience in undertaking research, for example, literature reviews, scoping reviews, systematic reviews or collection or analysis of survey data, (e.g. for public consultations or interrogation of findings from focus groups, interviews or other methods.)
- Demonstrable experience in writing, reviewing, editing and proofing documents and reports for a variety of audiences.

Cáilíocht agus Dearbhú Faisnéise Sláinte: tugann an fhoireann comhairle maidir le faisnéis sláinte a bhailiú agus a chomhroinnt ar bhealach éifeachtúil slán, déanann sí measúnú ar chomhlíonadh na gcaighdeán náisiúnta i mbailiúcháin náisiúnta sonraí agus i seirbhísí sláinte, agus déanann sí acmhainní faisnéise a mheas chun tacú le seirbhísí sláinte agus cúraim shóisialta in Éirinn.
Caighdeáin Faisnéise Sláinte: leagann an fhoireann caighdeáin náisiúnta síos agus forbraíonn sí creataí agus treoir chun tacú le malartú faisnéise sláinte agus cúraim shóisialta.
Caighdeáin Náisiúnta do sheirbhísí sláinte agus cúraim shóisialta: forbraíonn an fhoireann caighdeáin agus treoir atá dírithe ar an duine, bunaithe ar fhianaise agus ar dhea-chleachtas idirnáisiúnta, do sheirbhísí sláinte agus cúraim shóisialta.

Oibreoidh an tOifigeach Taighde mar chuid d’fhoireann chun tionscadail a chur i gcrích.
