CORLANN WEST REGION

PERMANENT FULL-TIME INFORMATION GOVERNANCE & INSURANCE OFFICER (GRADE VI)

A panel may be formed as a result of this process from which subsequent Appointments within the Department West Region will be made over the next 12 months.

Introduction

Corlann West Region provide a community based, person centred service focusing on the needs and abilities of children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The vision of the service is to support people with intellectual disabilities to achieve a full and valued life in their community, in line with best practice both nationally and internationally. The Role

The Information Governance & Insurance Officer is a senior compliance and operational role within Corlann West Region (Galway & Roscommon) that combines GDPR/Data Protection, Freedom of Information (FOI), Insurance Administration, Claims Management, and Information Governance responsibilities.

Reports / Responsible to:

Insurance & Information Governance Manager, Corlann West.

Essential Criteria:

Candidates must have:

Qualifications:

A relevant third level professional/academic qualification in business studies, health service management, legal or para-legal.

Experience:

Demonstrated experience & knowledge (+ 2 years) of working in Data Protection legislation & records management and information governance

Demonstrated experience & knowledge (+2 years) working in Insurance administration, risk management & Claims Administration management.

Skills:

Excellent leadership, team-working, communication and negotiation skills;

Excellent Analytical and problem-solving ability.

Excellent organisational & prioritisation skills and the ability to multi-task

Excellent administrative skills demonstrating a high level of accuracy and attention to detail;

A high level of ICT skills in a variety of systems including Microsoft Office Suite

Candidates must have the ability to exercise professional judgement, discretion, integrity & confidentiality.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Full clean B class driving license and use of own car.

Desirable Criteria:

Certificate in Freedom of Information

Certificate in Data Protection

Experience in Data Protection, Freedom of Information and Insurance with the Public Service/Irish Healthcare system

Experience in/understanding of the public service/Irish Healthcare system

Training and advisory skills.

WORKING HOURS:

35 hours per week based on a 5-day duty roster. Contracted hours of work are liable to change between the hours of 8am and 8pm to meet the requirements of the service.

The Corlann model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide a quality service delivery for each individual.

ANNUAL LEAVE:

30 days per annum.

REMUNERATION:

Department of Health Grade VI (Clerical) salary scale (01/06/2026) - 58,477 to 71,441 gross per annum.

The reference salary applying to the grade ranges from a minimum of 58,477 to a maximum of 66,677 gross basic per annum. After three years on the maximum point, a Long Service Increment applies, bringing the annual salary to 69,056 gross basic per annum. After a further three years, another Long Service Increment applies, bringing the annual salary to the maximum of 71,441 gross per annum.

PROBATION:

A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. The employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employers discretion.

TENURE:

This position is permanent, full-time and pensionable.

TRAVEL/BASE:

The person appointed must provide his/her own car and must furnish an indemnity from Insurers in favour of the employer. Travelling expenses at the appropriate rate will be paid in respect of travel necessarily performed in the discharge of duty and in accordance with our Travel Policy.

Travel to service locations throughout the region is a requirement of this role, and the post holder may be required to work from an alternative work location from time to time.

The travel base for this purpose will be Woodlands, Renmore, Galway. This may be subject to change in the future.
