About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Maintenance Technician to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving production and packaging equipment to ensure maximum uptime and operational efficiency.

This role requires a technician with strong electrical and mechanical skills and a proven track record in a food manufacturing environment. You will play a key role in preventative maintenance, breakdown response, continuous improvement projects, and supporting production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on production and packaging equipment.
Respond quickly to equipment breakdowns and carry out effective fault finding and repairs.
Diagnose and repair electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical faults.
Work on conveyors, pumps, motors, drives, sensors, valves, and control systems.
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled machinery and automated equipment.
Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment reliability and efficiency.
Complete maintenance records and work orders using the site's CMMS system.
Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out safely and in compliance with food safety standards.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and modification of new equipment.
Work closely with production supervisors and operators to minimise downtime.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 5 years' experience in a maintenance technician role within a food manufacturing environment.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Experience with: Three-phase motors and motor control systems, VSDs/Inverters, Sensors and instrumentation, Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, Conveyors and process equipment, Line setup and tolerances
Ability to read electrical drawings and mechanical schematics.
Experience working with PLC-controlled machinery.
Strong problem-solving and fault-finding abilities.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Flexible approach and willingness to participate in works outside of normal working hours

Desirable Qualifications

Electrical or Mechanical Trade Qualification.
Multi-skilled Technician certification.
PLC troubleshooting experience
Experience with CMMS maintenance systems.
Experience in FMCG or high-volume food production.
