We are looking for a capable resource to coordinate, ranging from simple activities to more complex plans. This role will provide onsite/ on-call assistance to end-users within the organization’s desktop computing environment in a timely and accurate fashion to ensure optimal service delivery.

Job Summary:
The Smart Hands Support technician provides on-site assistance for data centre operations,
offering physical support to remote IT teams. Responsibilities include hardware installations,
troubleshooting, media handling, cable management, and vendor coordination. The role is
hands-on and involves tasks such as rack and stack, equipment replacement, basic diagnostics,
and support for networking and server infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform rack and stack of servers, switches, routers, storage, and other data centre equipment.
- Install, replace, relocate, and decommission hardware and hot-swappable components.
- Perform power cycles, LED checks, basic diagnostics, and physical equipment inspections.
- Install, replace, and troubleshoot copper/fibre cabling, patch panels, and network connectivity.
- Act as on-site hands and eyes for remote IT/network teams and execute tasks as instructed.
- Report equipment status, alarms, error messages, port/link status, and physical findings to remote teams.
- Support firmware/driver upgrades and remote management configuration as required.
- Perform backup tape loading/unloading, media inventory, and basic tape library troubleshooting.
- Coordinate with vendors, facilities, and security teams for installations, maintenance, and site activities.
- Maintain asset inventory, rack layouts, cable labelling, and data centre documentation.
- Ensure proper cable dressing, equipment placement, and adherence to client/site standards.
- Update tickets and provide timely status reports on incidents, maintenance, and completed activities.
Requirements:
- Diploma/Degree in IT, Electronics, or a related field.
- 2+ years of data centre or field support experience.
- Basic knowledge of servers, networking, storage, and cabling.
- Familiarity with remote management tools.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Physically fit and willing to work flexible shifts/on-call.
