Field Sales Representative – B2B Sales

The Role

Connaught Joinery is seeking an experienced Field Sales Representative to join our growing business.

This is a hands-on B2B sales role combining field sales, new business development, account management and customer relationship management.

The position will involve a mix of working on the road and working in person from our office. Some days will be focused on customer visits and developing new business in the field; other days will be spent in the office managing quotations, orders, follow-ups, planning and working with our production and operations teams.

There will also be days where you are moving between the office and customer meetings.

This is not a remote or work-from-home position. The successful candidate will need to be comfortable managing their week between customer visits and being present in the office as required.

We are looking for someone with strong sales ability, but equally important is organisation, follow-through, communication and accountability.

Key Responsibilities

Develop new B2B sales opportunities and win new customers.
Manage and grow relationships with existing customers.
Visit customers and prospective customers face-to-face.
Identify new projects, customers and sales opportunities.
Build strong, long-term relationships that generate repeat business.
Follow up quotations, enquiries and leads consistently.
Convert opportunities into profitable sales.
Plan and manage weekly customer visits and sales activity.
Spend appropriate time in the office managing orders, quotations, follow-ups and customer requirements.
Enter and maintain accurate sales orders and customer information on company systems.
Track your sales pipeline, outstanding quotations and upcoming opportunities.
Follow customer orders and projects through from enquiry to completion.
Work closely with management, production and operations.
Ensure information and commitments made to customers are communicated accurately internally.
Provide regular updates on sales activity, opportunities, customer feedback and upcoming orders.
Achieve agreed monthly and annual sales targets.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is commercial, organised, proactive, accountable and excellent with customers.

Ideally, you will have:

Previous experience in Field Sales, B2B Sales, Territory Sales, Account Management or Sales Executive roles.
A proven ability to generate new business.
Strong account management and customer relationship skills.
Confidence meeting and developing customers face-to-face.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Strong organisation and time-management skills.
A disciplined approach to following up quotations and opportunities.
Experience working with sales targets and managing a sales pipeline.
Confidence using CRM, ERP or sales-order systems.
The ability to plan and manage your own workload.
The ability to work independently while remaining accountable and connected to the wider team.
A full clean driving licence.

Experience within construction, building materials, doors, joinery, timber, builders merchants, manufacturing or related B2B sectors would be a strong advantage.

However, we are also interested in experienced B2B sales professionals from other industries who can demonstrate a strong record of developing customers, winning new business and managing accounts effectively.

Working Pattern

This position combines field sales (most of the time) and office-based work (some of the time)

The working week will vary depending on customer requirements and sales priorities. This may include:

Full days visiting customers.
Office-based days for sales administration, orders, quotations and follow-ups.
Days split between the office and customer visits.
Regular in-person communication with management, production and operations.

The successful candidate must therefore be comfortable with a flexible working week rather than expecting to be exclusively office-based or exclusively on the road.

This position would suit an experienced Field Sales Representative, Sales Representative, Sales Executive, Territory Sales Representative, Area Sales Representative or Account Manager who enjoys developing relationships, winning business and taking responsibility for following opportunities through.
