Restaurant Manager – The Black Lion, Inchicore, Dublin 8

Salary: €45,000 per annum
Location: The Black Lion, 207A Emmet Road, Inchicore, Dublin 8

The Black Lion is one of Dublin's most historic and well-established hospitality venues, serving the Inchicore community for generations. Located in the heart of Dublin 8, the venue combines a busy food offering with a strong local pub trade and a reputation for quality service and hospitality.

We are currently seeking an experienced and ambitious Restaurant Manager to oversee and lead our food service operation. This is a hands-on management role for someone who is passionate about hospitality, guest experience, team development, and driving commercial performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesFood Service Operations

Oversee all day-to-day restaurant operations.
Ensure consistently high standards of food presentation, service, cleanliness, and guest satisfaction.
Manage service periods effectively, maintaining excellent communication between front and back of house teams.
Ensure all opening, service, and closing procedures are completed to company standards.
Monitor customer feedback and implement improvements where required.

Team Leadership

Recruit, train, develop, and motivate front of house staff.
Lead by example on the floor during busy service periods.
Conduct regular staff training and performance reviews.
Manage employee performance and address issues in line with company procedures.
Create a positive, professional, and customer-focused culture.

Financial & Commercial Management

Manage labour costs in line with budgeted targets.
Drive food sales and maximise revenue opportunities.
Monitor daily and weekly trading performance.
Assist with stock control procedures and cost management.
Work closely with senior management on sales initiatives and business development opportunities.

Standards & Compliance

Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety, health & safety, and company operating procedures.
Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness throughout all customer-facing areas.
Manage customer complaints professionally and efficiently.
Ensure all licensing and regulatory requirements are adhered to.

The Ideal Candidate

Minimum 2 years' management experience in a busy restaurant, gastropub, hotel, or food-led hospitality environment.
Strong understanding of restaurant operations and customer service standards.
Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams.
Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of labour control, stock management, and profitability.
Experience with rostering, cash handling, and reporting systems.
HACCP and food safety knowledge essential.
Ability to remain calm and effective in a fast-paced environment.
