Full job description

McNamara Fencing is seeking a dependable and professional Full-Time Delivery Driver / Yard Operative to join our team.

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for the safe and efficient delivery of fencing, agricultural, and construction materials throughout Ireland, operating a 3.5t truck and trailer. During quieter delivery periods, the role will include supporting the day-to-day operation of the yard.

Main Duties

Carry out scheduled deliveries throughout Ireland using a 3.5t vehicle and trailer.
Load, secure, transport, and unload goods safely and in accordance with company procedures.
Complete delivery documentation, vehicle checks or relevant driver records where applicable, and all associated paperwork accurately.
Maintain a high standard of vehicle cleanliness, presentation, and basic daily maintenance checks.
Report vehicle defects, delivery issues, damages, or shortages promptly.
Assist with general yard operations when delivery work is limited, including order picking, loading and unloading vehicles, stock handling, and maintaining a safe, organised work area.
Operate a forklift safely for loading, unloading, and moving stock, where qualified.
Provide a professional and helpful service to customers at all times.

Essential Requirements

A full BE, C1E, or CE driving licence is essential.
Previous experience driving a vehicle and trailer for commercial deliveries is desirable.
A strong awareness of road safety, load security, and manual-handling practices.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and represent the company professionally on customer sites.
Good attention to detail, particularly in relation to paperwork, vehicle checks, and delivery documentation.
Willingness to carry out practical yard and warehouse duties as required.
Fluent English and good communication skills.

Desirable Requirements

A valid forklift licence is preferred; however, forklift training can be provided for a suitable candidate.
Experience in agricultural, building materials, timber, hardware, or similar distribution environments would be an advantage.
