A New Kind of Social Care Opportunity

TerraGlen is expanding into an exciting new area of service provision in Drogheda - supporting young people aged 16+ who may have complex needs.

This is more than a new mainstream service. It is an opportunity to be part of a specialist 16+ model focused on building trust, stability, independence and pathways towards adulthood.

Working within a low-stimulus, relationship-based approach, our team will support young people to develop confidence, self-regulation, life skills and greater independence while providing a safe, consistent and nurturing environment.

We are looking for experienced Social Care professionals who are confident working with complex presentations, challenging behaviours and dynamic risk, and who can bring patience, resilience, creativity and a genuinely non-judgemental approach to their practice. The model specifically recognises the need for flexible responses, unconditional positive regard and a commitment to maintaining support irrespective of a young person's behaviours.

Social Care Worker - Aftercare Mainstream Services

Permanent, full-time

Residential Care Services

Location:

Drogheda, Co. Louth

Job Purpose

The Social Care Worker is expected to engage in daily activities and routines of the service that they are working in, including direct support to service users, administration work and daily household tasks required of them.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Provide person-centred care and support to young people.
Promote independence, education, and emotional well-being.
Work collaboratively within a trauma-informed, values-driven team.
Deliver high-quality care and assistance to residents as per their Individual care plans and instructions by the Centre Management.
To ensure that the main principles of the National Standards of Residential Child Care (dignity, privacy, choice, safety, realising potential and equality and diversity) are reflected within the service provided.
To advise the Social Care Manager of any changes in the young people's needs
To support young people in accessing information in an appropriate format, allowing them to make informed choices.
To support young people and staff to be aware of all aspects of safety.
To liaise with the Social Care Manager, Deputy Social Care Manager, Social Care Leader and staff on issues relating to the centre.

What You'll Need

Qualifications and experience requirements

A minimum Level 7, preferably in Applied Social Care OR,
A minimum Level 7 in Nursing, Psychology, Teaching, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Social Work, Social Sciences or Youth and Community Work are qualifications that will also be considered.
A thorough knowledge of the principles and practice of social care.
Currently undertaking or holding a CORU-recognised Social Care Qualification
Full, clean manual driving licence.
Flexibility for varied shifts, including sleepovers.
2 years' experience in similar settings.

Vetting Requirement

Successful candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau
