We're a busy independent café in the heart of Dublin city, where coffee lovers, food lovers and neighbours come together. We're passionate about serving exceptional specialty coffee alongside delicious homemade food, prepared fresh in-house each day. From soups, sandwiches and sausage rolls to cakes and sweet treats, everything we serve is made with care and quality at its heart.

The Opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to play a key role in shaping the day-to-day experience of a much-loved independent Dublin café.
We're looking for an experienced hospitality professional who's ready to take real ownership of a busy independent café.
As Duty Manager, you'll be trusted to lead the café during your shifts, ensuring every customer enjoys an exceptional experience while supporting your team to perform at their very best. You'll be the person who keeps service running smoothly, makes confident decisions, solves problems as they arise and helps create the positive, welcoming atmosphere that RóCo is known for.
You'll also play an important role in bringing our front of house and kitchen teams together. Working closely with our Kitchen Lead, you'll help ensure communication is seamless, service flows effortlessly and every customer receives the same high standard of quality, whether they're ordering a flat white or one of our homemade lunches.
We're also looking for someone who enjoys making things better. We welcome new ideas, encourage initiative and want someone who'll identify opportunities to improve how we work, enhance the customer experience and help RóCo continue to grow.
This is a full-time, permanent position of approximately 40 hours per week, including regular weekend work.
What You'll Be Doing
As Duty Manager, you'll take ownership of the café during your shifts, ensuring everything runs smoothly from opening until close.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, motivating and supporting the team throughout each shift.
- Setting the tone by leading from the front and delivering exceptional customer service.
- Creating a welcoming atmosphere where every customer feels valued.
- Overseeing the day-to-day operation of the café, ensuring service runs efficiently and to RóCo's high standards.
- Acting as the key link between our front of house and kitchen teams, working closely with our Kitchen Lead to ensure seamless communication and smooth service.
- Supporting the kitchen during busy periods or when additional help is needed. Previous kitchen experience is a distinct advantage.
- Preparing consistently excellent coffee and maintaining high beverage standards.
- Coordinating the team throughout service, allocating tasks and ensuring breaks are managed effectively.
- Handling customer feedback and resolving issues confidently, professionally and with empathy.
- Opening and closing the café.
- Managing cash handling, till reconciliation and safe procedures with accuracy and integrity.
- Monitoring stock levels, placing daily orders where required and ensuring the café remains well stocked throughout the day.
- Maintaining exceptional standards of cleanliness, food safety, organisation and presentation.
- Organising and filing delivery dockets and invoices accurately.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, service and efficiency, and confidently bringing new ideas to the team.
- Rolling up your sleeves and stepping into whatever role is needed to keep service flowing smoothly.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys hospitality and takes pride in creating a café that customers love returning to.
You'll be someone who naturally notices what's happening around you, anticipates what needs to be done and takes action without waiting to be asked.
You'll thrive in this role if you:
- Have previous leadership experience in a busy café or hospitality environment.
- Are an experienced barista who takes pride in consistently excellent coffee.
- Enjoy working at pace and remain calm under pressure.
- Lead by example and aren't afraid to roll up your sleeves.
- Are confident making decisions and solving problems independently.
- Build positive relationships with customers and colleagues alike.
- Communicate clearly and respectfully with both front of house and kitchen teams.
- Take pride in maintaining exceptionally high standards.
- Enjoy improving systems and finding better ways of doing things.
- Are comfortable supporting the kitchen when required. Previous kitchen experience would be a real advantage, although it's not essential.
- Have a genuine passion for hospitality and creating memorable customer experiences.
What Success Looks Like
You'll know you're succeeding when:
- Customers receive consistently warm, friendly and attentive service.
- The team feels supported, motivated and knows exactly what's expected of them.
- Front of house and kitchen work together seamlessly.
- Service remains calm, organised and efficient, even during busy periods.
- Problems are resolved quickly before they become bigger issues.
- The café remains clean, well stocked and beautifully presented throughout the day.
- Your team enjoys coming to work and takes pride in what they do.
- You leave every shift knowing the café is set up for success.
