Full job description

MISSION:

WinPower has been operating on the national and international markets for over 30 years on the domains of engineering, Operation & Maintenance of energy generation solutions and providing services for the energy transition of its customers and partners. One of the strategic goals of the organization is to give an opportunity to workers who want to participate in disruptive projects on the energy sector and build new opportunities with the WinPower Team.

WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

EQF Level 6 (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Power Systems, or a closely related discipline.
Minimum 1 year hands-on experience in maintaining industrial electrical systems (switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, VSDs, protection relays, control panels, distribution networks).
Some prior experience leading small teams, mentoring juniors, or acting as a "lead hand" is highly desirable, but formal supervisory experience is not required.
Solid capability in electrical testing, diagnostics, and fault-finding on low and medium voltage systems.
Demonstrated ability to manage time-sensitive tasks and prioritize workloads effectively.
Proficient in reading and interpreting complex single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, loop drawings, protection logic diagrams, and technical documentation.
Willing to learn CMMS software for managing work orders and logging maintenance history; willingness to learn advanced reporting and analytical functions.
Experience in operation and maintenance activities within an industrial environment (power generation, heavy industry, or oil & gas).
Basic knowledge of safe work practices, including electrical isolation, LOTO, arc flash protection, earthing/grounding, and Permit to Work systems.
Working knowledge of British Standards and European health & safety regulations.
Fluency in English (written and spoken).
Understanding of Portuguese is optional but valued.
Availability and authorisation to work in Ireland is essential.

Strong understanding of power plant electrical equipment terminology, protection systems, operational procedures, and system interdependencies.

Decisive under pressure – able to make sound technical decisions during electrical faults/breakdowns while seeking supervisory validation when needed.
Strong analytical and critical problem-solving skills, with an interest in root-cause analysis and protection coordination.
Excellent communication and coordination skills – capable of bridging the gap between technicians and senior management.
Basic knowledge of plant architecture, evacuation plans, safety points, and environmental control systems.
Knowledge of instrumentation engineering design, such as P&ID, Instrument Specs/ Data Sheets
Competency in tools like Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Workspace, and email management platforms
Commitment to environmental protection procedures and regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with alarm systems, SCADA interfaces, protection relay systems, and emergency protocols in power plants or heavy industrial sites.
Administrative aptitude – comfortable with report writing, data analysis, performance tracking, and maintenance KPI monitoring.

WHAT ROLE WILL YOU PLAY:

Assist the Electrical Supervisor in planning, coordinating, and overseeing predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance activities for all electrical systems, switchgear, distribution networks, control systems, and protection equipment.
Supervise and mentor a small team of electrical technicians and trainees under the guidance of the Senior Supervisor, gradually taking on greater leadership responsibility.
Monitor electrical operational parameters (voltage, current, power factor, frequency) and participate in troubleshooting; learn to make autonomous decisions to resolve electrical anomalies and minimize downtime.
Ensure strict adherence to QAS and HSE procedures, quality standards, and industry best practices, with a strong emphasis on electrical safety.
Support the management of electrical tools, test equipment, calibration instruments, and spare parts inventory, learning the logistics of supply chain and stock control.
Assist in diagnosing electrical faults by reviewing single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, protection relay settings, and test results, gradually building the confidence to independently validate repair strategies.
Respond to plant electrical alarms and emergencies alongside the team, shadowing the Supervisor in directing restoration efforts.
Learn to enforce Permit to Work systems and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, with specific attention to safe electrical isolation; assist in reviewing isolation permits and work documentation for completeness.
Oversee and audit the logging of maintenance activities in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring data accuracy for operational reporting.
Support the safe isolation, de-energization, and earthing/grounding of electrical equipment, championing safety culture within the team.
Comfortable on HV (High Voltage) Systems, willing to operate, maintain(typically 15 kV to 110 kV)
Participate in the preparation and review of Method Statements and Risk Assessments (RAMS), learning how to assess electrical risks (arc flash, shock hazards, etc.) from a managerial perspective.
Identify system anomalies, participate in root-cause analysis, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, learning how to present data-driven recommendations to upper management.
