About Us
Stables Cafe is a busy cafe open from 9am till 5pm 7day per week.
We are using vegetables grown in our walled garden and using local suppliers for our meat & fish. Trying to minimise waste is part of our ethos.
Role Overview
As a Commis Chef, you will support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in delivering consistently high standards of food preparation, cooking, and presentation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their skills and progress in a professional kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of high-quality dishes in line with menus and recipes.
- Ensure all food is prepared, cooked, and presented to the required standards.
- Maintain cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety standards in all kitchen areas.
- Assist with stock rotation, labelling, and storage procedures.
- Follow instructions from senior chefs and contribute positively to the smooth running of service.
- Comply with all HACCP and food safety regulations.
- Support the wider kitchen team in delivering excellent customer experiences.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment is desirable but not essential.
- A passion for food and willingness to learn and develop.
- Knowledge of basic food hygiene practices (HACCP training desirable).
- Ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, and bank holidays as required.

Contract Details
- Contract type: Permanent, full or part-time (subject to successful probation).
- Hours of work: 24hrs Part Time / 39 hours per week Full Time (rostered, including weekends).
- Probation period: 6 months.
- Annual leave: 20 days per year (pro rata), plus public holidays, in accordance with the Organisation of Working Time Act 1997.
