ABBEY THEATRE

Artistically our programme is built on twin impulses, and around two questions: “who we were, and who are we now?” We interrogate our classical canon with an urgency about what makes it speak to this moment. On our stages we find and champion new voices and new ways of seeing, our purpose – to identify combinations of characters we are yet to meet, having conversations we are yet to hear.

Job Title: Facilities Assistant

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Provide support to the facilities manager and facilities technician on a variety of maintenance/

facilities projects.

Conduct routine cleaning and daily facilities duties that will ensure that service levels are upheld

and support structure maintained when off site.

Ensure the outside of all our premises are cleaned daily.
Liaise with service providers to ensure effective operation of cleaning, waste and recycling services

to ensure a consistent high standard, reliable service and a positive relationship. Ensure staff
awareness to improve efficiency.

Conduct regular cleaning and facilities inspections to ensure that all health and safety guidelines

and highest cleaning standards are achieved.

Ensure that all services are meeting budget requirements and endeavour to reduce costs where

possible.

Recommend and implement regular improvements in cleaning, waste and recycling services.
Conduct cost effective analysis of cleaning and waste management suppliers working with the

Facilities Manager to implement recommendations.

Take an active role in the Abbey's Green Committee relating to cleaning, recycling and waste

management.

First point of contact for all issues or queries relating to cleaning, waste and recycling management

while ensuring a prompt response.

Manage purchase orders and ensure cleaning documentation is accessible and managed

appropriately.

Conduct all Abbey Theatre business in accordance with best practice and an awareness of the

National Theatre’s goals and objectives.

Any other duties as may be deemed reasonable and appropriate.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

The post holder will have:

At least one years’ experience in a busy facilities team
PC literate - basic understanding of PC use, email, system information, document updating
An interest in sustainability
Some experience working within a trade is preferable but not essential
Attention to detail concentration required
The ability to communicate effectively, both over the telephone and face to face is essential
Ability to accurately complete tasks assignments responsibilities in timely manner
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisation skills
Experience of working within a fast-paced office environment
Dependable and flexible, able to work independently as well as part of a team
A basic understanding of good health safety practices

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Posts: Part time permanent contract.
Salary: € 15.000 year
Probationary period: 6 months.
Holidays: 24 days per annum (including Good Friday and Christmas Eve) pro rata.
Public Holidays: 9 Public holidays per annum pro rata.
Pension: The Abbey Theatre provides employees with access to a pension scheme and will match
contributions up to 5.5% of salary. Employees must contribute a minimum of 3% to avail of employer
contributions. Contributions are made through payroll.
Life Assurance: The Abbey Theatre Group Life Assurance plan provides a benefit to all employees of 4 times
annual salary in the event of death while in service.
