The Nest Boutique Hostel is a 23 bedroom Boutique Hostel based in Salthill in Galway with a small number of Self catering units in Galway City Centre.

Job description

Night Porter.

. Full-Time position to provide as cover in the absence of other employees

· This position is a 4 consecutive nights of any given week, mostly Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

· You will be based in the reception of the hostel which is closed to the guests and public from the hours of 10pm - 7am. However the working hours are always from 10pm to 8am.

· The main task of this role will be to act as a presence in the hostel and tend to any of the guests needs should they occur over the shift period

· You will have a list of duties to take care of over the shift ranging from preparations for breakfast to general cleaning of the common room and kitchen of the hostel

· Alteration of the nights working are are also possible on occasion once agreed on in advance.

- You may be required to take on more shifts to cover the holidays

- The first 3 months of the position are on a fully paid for the hours worked trial basis

Night Porter Shift: Initial roles and responsibilities.

· Night time monitoring of building and grounds

· Greet possible late check-ins and issue rooms keys etc.

· Preparing breakfast buffet for breakfast the following morning

· Basic cleaning of common room, kitchen and utility and external areas.

· Fill out of Hand over manuals and reporting to management.

· Monitor stock levels for breakfast and vending machine items

· Watering external and internal planting

Terms

· Your starting wage is 16/hour and to provide weekly cover of 40 hours. Your working nights will typically run over 4 consecutive nights each week(mostly week days with the possibility of doing weekends according to business needs) unless otherwise agreed on with management. For whatever time you work you will be paid for that time. You will be entitled to 8% of the hours worked in the leave year, subject to a maximum of 4 working weeks leave and the appropriate days public holidays. The hours of work will be based on the business needs and communicated accordingly on a weekly basis.

Candidate requirements

Knowledge of the workings of the accommodation industry will be a bonus for candidates but not a must for the position.

Candidates must be able to show a willingness to work together with staff and management from all departments and be comfortable with taking direction and carrying out their duties as per the shift requirements

Candidates must have a good grasp of the English Language
