Atlantic Healthcare Alliance is reshaping primary care in Ireland — building a network of community-based GP practices focused on prevention, early detection, and chronic disease management. We are seeking an Assistant Practice Manager to help lead a multi site GP practice located in Old Bawn and Walkinstown.

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is not purely a practice administration role. As Assistant Practice Manager, you will help with the operational performance of the GP practice — removing friction for clinical teams, driving programme delivery, and building a culture of excellence across every patient touchpoint.

You will work closely with the Practice Manager, administration team, GPs, nurses, and the Regional/Area Team to ensure the practice is organised, responsive, and positioned to grow. The role will require some reception cover along with some management duties delegated to you by the Practice Manager. As the Practice is multi site, you will be based in and take ownership of the Old Bawn site.

CORE MANDATE is to assist the Practice Manager in the following duties:

OPERATIONAL EXCELLENCE

Day-to-day practice operations including manning the desk and phone as required.
Streamline scheduling & patient flow
Remove burden from clinical teams
Ensure professional, responsive workflows

PROGRAMME DELIVERY

Drive patient enrolment in chronic disease programmes
Maintain robust recall & follow-up systems
Close gaps in access and uptake
Support continuity of care

CLINICAL ENABLEMENT

Support early identification of metabolic & chronic disease
Enable specialist-interest clinic delivery
Sustain governance & compliance standards
Champion patient experience quality

Assist the Practice Manager in delivering these KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Practice Operations

Ensure smooth daily running including administration, appointment systems, capacity utilisation, site organisation, and real-time issue resolution.

Patient Access & Care Pathways

Break down barriers to timely care. Support coordination within the practice and across community-based services for holistic patient journeys.

Team Leadership

Lead, coach, and develop the administrative team. Manage rotas, performance, and training. Build a culture of professionalism, accountability, and excellent service.

Prevention & Chronic Disease

Ensure effective enrolment, recall, tracking, and follow-up systems for prevention and chronic disease management with strong population-based care support.

Governance, Finance & Quality

Maintain strong standards in compliance, record management, billing, claiming, cost discipline, and continuous quality improvement across all practice activities.

Patient Access

Patients experience timely, organised access to appropriate community-based care.

Programme Execution

Prevention and chronic disease cohorts are accurately enrolled, recalled, and followed up.

Clinical Support

Clinical staff are freed from avoidable administrative burden and can focus on patient care.

Team Performance

Administrative teams are well led, accountable, and aligned to a high-service culture.

Finance

Exceed average GP Practice financial norms through well controlled costs, accurate billing and maximisation of allowable grant & STC claiming.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Strong GP Practice experience with sound judgement, decisive problem-solving, and a track record of follow-through
Able to lead teams with clarity, warmth, and high standards in a fast-moving environment
Commercially aware and numerate, with a solid grasp of workflow, utilisation, and cost discipline
Excellent communicator who can build trust with GPs, nurses, administrators, and patients
Comfortable navigating a modern, evolving healthcare environment with ambition and pace
