Due to continued growth, Moffett Automation is recruiting a CAD Technician to join our fast-paced Engineering Department at our newly renovated headquarters in Monaghan.

The Role
Working as part of the Drawing Team within our HQ, the CAD Technician will report directly to the Senior Engineer.
The successful candidate will assist with refining existing products, designing new solutions and developing concept designs using SolidWorks. They will also support the Sales and Project Management teams by preparing 2D AutoCAD layouts and helping to transform customer requirements into practical, engineered solutions.
The role will involve creating and maintaining detailed bills of materials, producing manufacturing drawings and working closely with the factory workshop to bring designs from initial concept through to physical production.
Key Responsibilities
- Use SolidWorks to create and develop new parts, components and assemblies.
- Produce detailed 2D manufacturing and fabrication drawings.
- Prepare fabrication packages and purchasing packages.
- Create and maintain accurate bills of materials for fabrication and purchasing.
- Follow company part-numbering systems and BOM management procedures.
- Update, revise and maintain drawings for existing products, parts and assemblies.
- Use SolidWorks and AutoCAD to produce layouts and develop design concepts.
- Support the Sales and Project Management teams with customer layouts and concept development.
- Translate customer requirements and initial ideas into practical engineered solutions.
- Design components in CAD and assist with creating prototypes and physical parts in the factory workshop.
- Help improve the efficiency, manufacturability and overall quality of existing designs.
- Gather guidance and technical input from different departments to support new designs and improve the existing product range.
- Ensure drawings and technical documentation are accurate, complete and issued in accordance with company procedures.
- Carry out any other reasonable duties associated with the role.

Desirable Experience
The following experience would be beneficial:
- Experience using CAD systems, particularly SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Experience in sheet-metal design.
- Experience producing manufacturing, fabrication or assembly drawings.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes or experience working in a factory or workshop environment.
- Experience in fabrication, assembly or prototype development.
- Experience maintaining bills of materials and technical documentation.
- A background in junior mechanics, building services, construction or a similar practical discipline.
- Previous experience in a role involving the use of tools, machinery or the physical assembly of products.
Advantageous Qualifications
The following qualifications would be advantageous but are not essential:
- A degree in an engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Manufacturing or Aeronautical Engineering.
- An HND, Higher Certificate or similar qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Advanced Manufacturing or a related discipline.
- A relevant CAD, design, manufacturing or technical qualification.
