The Mid-Western Cancer Foundation is seeking a creative, highly organised and digitally confident Marketing Executive to join our team.
This is a hands-on role for someone with experience across the full spectrum of marketing and digital marketing who is equally comfortable developing a campaign, updating a WordPress website, creating content in Canva, coordinating an event, preparing a press release and analysing campaign performance.
The Marketing Executive will be responsible for strengthening awareness of the Mid-Western Cancer Foundation, promoting our services and programmes, supporting fundraising and community engagement, and ensuring that our communications consistently reflect the professionalism, warmth and values of the organisation.
As a cancer support organisation, how we communicate matters. The successful candidate will need to combine creativity and commercial marketing skills with empathy, good judgement and an understanding of the sensitivity required when communicating with people living with a cancer diagnosis.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Manage the Foundation's presence across relevant social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TickTok, YouTube and other emerging channels
- Develop and manage an engaging social media and digital content calendar
- Create, schedule and publish high-quality social media content
- Develop digital campaigns to promote services, programmes, events, fundraising activities and organisational initiatives
- Create engaging written, photographic, graphic and short-form video content
- Monitor engagement and respond appropriately to online comments, messages and enquiries
- Keep up to date with changing social media platforms, algorithms, trends and digital marketing opportunities
- Support and manage paid digital campaigns where appropriate
Website & WordPress
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day management and updating of the Foundation's WordPress website
- Create and update webpages, news articles, programme information, events and other website content
- Ensure website information remains accurate, current, accessible and user-friendly
- Apply good SEO practices to improve the visibility and reach of website content
- Monitor website performance and identify opportunities for improvement
- Liaise with external web or technical providers where required
Content Creation & Branding
- Create professional marketing materials using Canva and other appropriate tools
- Develop posters, brochures, flyers, social media graphics, presentations, signage, event materials and digital assets
- Ensure consistency in the use of the Foundation's brand, tone of voice and visual identity
- Write clear, engaging and sensitive copy for different audiences and communication channels
- Support photography and video content creation and maintain an organised library of marketing assets
- Ensure all communications appropriately represent the dignity and privacy of clients and their families
PR & Communications
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and regional media
- Identify positive PR and storytelling opportunities for the Foundation
- Draft press releases, media statements, articles and other communications
- Coordinate media activity around events, campaigns, fundraising initiatives and organisational developments
- Support spokespersons with key messages, briefing notes and other communications as required
- Help build greater public awareness and understanding of the Foundation, its services and its impact
Events & Community Engagement
- Support the planning, promotion and coordination of Foundation events, fundraising activities, awareness campaigns and community initiatives
- Develop marketing and communications plans for events
- Coordinate promotional materials, social media, PR, photography and other event communications
- Liaise with community groups, supporters, partners, suppliers and other stakeholders
- Attend and support events where required
- Capture appropriate content at events for subsequent marketing and communications
Campaigns & Fundraising Support
- Work closely with colleagues to develop marketing campaigns that support the Foundation's strategic objectives
- Promote fundraising campaigns and community fundraising activities
- Develop compelling communications that demonstrate the impact of donations and community support
- Support donor and supporter communications where appropriate
- Help identify opportunities to grow the Foundation's reach, profile and community engagement
Analytics, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and report on the performance of marketing activity across website, social media, email and digital campaigns
- Use relevant analytics and platform insights to understand reach, engagement, traffic and campaign performance
- Produce regular, clear marketing performance reports
- Identify trends and use data to recommend improvements
- Establish meaningful KPIs for marketing activity and track progress against agreed objectives
- Use evidence and insights to continually improve campaigns, content and communications
Essential Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will have:
- Relevant professional experience in marketing, digital marketing, communications or a similar role
- Strong working knowledge of marketing across both traditional and digital channels
- Demonstrable experience managing organisational social media accounts
- Strong practical experience using WordPress
- Strong practical experience using Canva
- Experience creating digital and social media content
- Strong copywriting and proofreading skills
- Experience using analytics and social media insights to measure and report on marketing performance
- Experience coordinating marketing campaigns from concept through to delivery
- Strong organisational and project management skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to manage multiple projects, campaigns and deadlines simultaneously
- A proactive, creative and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to work independently and take ownership of the marketing function while collaborating effectively with colleagues
Desirable Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience in PR, media relations or journalism
- Experience coordinating events
- Experience marketing fundraising campaigns or community initiatives
- Experience within the charity, not-for-profit, healthcare or oncology sectors
- Experience with email marketing platforms and CRM systems
- Experience with paid social media and digital advertising
- Knowledge of SEO and Google Analytics
- Photography and/or video editing skills
- Experience developing marketing strategies and annual marketing plans

Location: Mungret College, Limerick
Reports to: General Manager
Hours: Mon to Fri 9am to 5pm: Onsite
Contract: Full-Time Contract
Salary: €35,000 to €40,000
Some flexibility may be required to attend Foundation events and activities outside normal working hours.
