Full job description

S&R Motors Donegal Ltd are looking for a reliable, organised, and experienced Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team.

We are looking for someone who is dependable, professional, proactive and detail-focused. You should be comfortable managing financial information, working to deadlines, and taking responsibility for your workload.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing day-to-day bookkeeping, assisting with accounts preparation, and ensuring that financial information is kept up to date and accurate.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, has strong attention to detail, and can work independently while providing a professional and confidential service.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records
Process purchase and sales invoices
Record income and expenditure
Perform regular bank and credit card reconciliations
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
Prepare and issue customer invoices
Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue accounts
VAT returns and other statutory requirements
Prepare monthly and annual accounts information
Assist with payroll and related records where required
Maintain accurate records of expenses and receipts
Prepare financial reports and summaries for management
Assist with budgeting, cash-flow monitoring and financial forecasting
Liaise with customers, suppliers, accountants, auditors and other relevant parties
Ensure all financial information is handled securely and confidentially
Identify discrepancies or errors and resolve them promptly
Ensure bookkeeping practices comply with relevant regulations and company procedures

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in bookkeeping or accounting
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Good knowledge of accounting principles and financial procedures
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Good IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Excel
Experience using accounting software such as Sage
A high level of integrity and confidentiality

Requirements

Minimum 2 - 3 years accounting experience is required
Experience working in the motor industry would be beneficial but not essential

Pay: From €14.15 per hour

Work Location: In person
