Compliance & AML Administrator

Salary: €32,000 per annum
Hours: 35 hours per week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–4:30pm (30-minute lunch)
Location: Abbeyleix
Position: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

ABS Ltd (previously trading as Business Books) are looking for an organised, capable and detail-focused individual to join our Compliance Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator who would like to develop a career in compliance, or someone with previous experience in AML, legal services, banking, mortgages or financial services.

You do not need to have previous AML experience. Full training will be provided on our procedures and systems.

The most important qualities we are looking for are excellent attention to detail, strong administrative and communication skills, confidence using Excel, and the ability to review information and identify when something is missing or requires further investigation.

What You'll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Reviewing new cases as they are received by the Compliance Department.
Reviewing file notes and information already available to determine whether a case can be appropriately risk classified.
Classifying cases in accordance with the firm's AML risk assessment procedures.
Identifying where further information or documentation is required.
Contacting clients by email to request outstanding information and documentation.
Responding to client queries regarding AML requirements.
Reviewing client identity and address documentation.
Reviewing electronic identity verification results.
Checking documentation for completeness, validity and consistency.
Identifying discrepancies, unusual information or potential AML red flags.
Escalating higher-risk or unusual cases to the Compliance Manager.
Working from Excel reports to identify cases requiring review or follow-up.
Monitoring outstanding AML requirements and following up where necessary.
Maintaining accurate records on the firm's systems.
Becoming familiar with relevant property and funding schemes and understanding how these affect AML requirements.
Working closely with the wider team to ensure cases progress through the compliance process efficiently.

What We're Looking For

You should have:

Excellent attention to detail.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Good written communication skills and confidence dealing with clients by email.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
The ability to review information and identify what is missing or inconsistent.
Good judgement and the confidence to escalate concerns when appropriate.
The ability to manage a busy workload and prioritise cases.
A professional approach when dealing with confidential information.
The ability to work independently while also contributing as part of a team.

Previous experience in administration, legal services, banking, mortgages, financial services, AML or compliance would be an advantage but is not essential.

What We Offer

€32,000 annual salary.
Monday to Friday working hours.
9:00am–4:30pm working day.
Full training in AML and the firm's compliance procedures.
Opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and experience in AML and compliance.
Support and training from an experienced Compliance Department.
Permanent, full-time position.

The Person

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with detail and is comfortable investigating information rather than simply processing it.

You should be the type of person who notices when something doesn't quite add up, checks the information available and takes the appropriate next step.

Accuracy, organisation and good judgement are particularly important in this role.
