Project Manager – IT/OT Manufacturing Projects

Location

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of digital transformation and industrial data projects spanning both Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT) environments, based on a manufacturing site in Cork. This is a hybrid role requiring two days per week on-site to work closely with plant engineering, operations, and client teams.

You will manage complex, multi-stakeholder projects across manufacturing and pharma clients — covering areas such as SCADA, Data Historians, MES, document management, and intelligent process automation. This role sits at the intersection of shop-floor operations and enterprise IT, requiring someone equally comfortable talking to plant engineers on a production line and IT/InfoSec stakeholders in a boardroom.

Key Responsibilities

Own end-to-end delivery of IT/OT projects — scoping, planning, resourcing, budget, risk, and stakeholder management — from kick-off through to go-live and handover.

Act as the primary point of contact for the client on-site in Cork, managing expectations, day-to-day relationships, and commercial scope.

Coordinate cross-functional teams including automation engineers, data engineers, software developers, and third-party vendors/OEMs.

Manage the specific risks of OT projects: production downtime windows, change control, validation (GxP/GAMP5 where applicable), cybersecurity segmentation, and plant safety requirements.

Develop and maintain project plans, RAID logs, budgets, and status reporting suited to both technical and executive audiences.

Liaise with client IT departments and OT/engineering teams to align on network architecture, data flows, and integration points (e.g., SCADA-to-cloud, historian-to-MES).

Manage change control and scope through formal governance processes, particularly within regulated manufacturing (pharma/life sciences) environments.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality and compliance standards.

Identify and escalate project risks proactively, with mitigation plans.

Required Experience & Skills

5+ years' project management experience, with a demonstrable track record delivering projects within manufacturing, pharma, food & beverage, or similar industrial environments.

Proven experience managing projects that span both IT and OT domains — e.g., ERP,SCADA/PLC integration, Data Historian deployments, MES, IoT, or plant network infrastructure.

Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and the practical constraints of working on live production sites (change windows, safety, validation).

Familiarity with relevant standards/frameworks such as ISA-95, GAMP5, or IEC 62443 (OT cybersecurity) is highly desirable.

Solid grounding in project management methodology (PMP, PRINCE2, or Agile/Scrum certification preferred).

Excellent stakeholder management skills — able to communicate effectively with plant operators, engineers, IT teams, and senior client sponsors alike.

Strong commercial acumen: budget management, scope control, and contract/change management experience.

Experience with industrial data platforms and document management systems is a strong advantage.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable producing client-facing documentation and status reports.

Based within a commutable distance of Cork, or willing to travel to site two days per week.

Desirable

Experience in regulated industries (pharma, medical devices) with validation/compliance exposure.

Background in systems integration, automation, or controls engineering prior to moving into project management.

Experience managing distributed/remote project teams across multiple sites or countries.
