About the role
Reporting to the Reception Supervisor the main responsibilities of the role are outlined below:

Greeting and directing guests, audiences, contributors, couriers, taxi companies and people attending for interview to the appropriate areas, ensuring that all visitors and individuals contacting RTÉ are dealt with in an effective, timely and professional manner.
Operating the switchboard and answering and forwarding incoming telephone calls, transferring calls to the appropriate person or department and taking down and passing on messages where necessary.
Working with the wider Receptionist/Telephonist team to provide administrative support and perform general administrative tasks.
Providing frontline public relations support outside normal office hours and during Prime TV and Radio broadcasting hours in the absence of Programme or other designated staff.
Liaising with the Communications, Programme or other teams to provide a first line information service to the public and staff.
Working closely with RTÉ’s Security team to report any incidents which may adversely affect our staff, visitors or premises.
Assisting with health, safety and fire safety procedures as directed by the Reception Supervisor.

About you
Essential Criteria (applicants must demonstrate these requirements through their CV and supporting statement)

Minimum 2 years' experience in a customer-facing role involving direct interaction with members of the public, staff or visitors.
Experience of handling a high volume of telephone enquiries in a busy environment.
Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word and Excel) in a professional setting.
Experience carrying out administrative duties including record management, correspondence or data entry.
Demonstrated ability to deal professionally with challenging or distressed callers/visitors.
Demonstrated ability to prioritise competing demands and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Availability to work a rostered shift pattern between 07.00 to 21.00 Monday to Friday, and weekend hours 09.00 - 19.30.
Excellent spoken and written English.

Desirable Criteria

Previous switchboard or multi-line telephone system experience.
Experience working in a reception, front-of-house, media, hospitality, healthcare or public sector environment.
Experience liaising with security or facilities teams.
Knowledge of the Irish language.
Experience acting as the first point of contact during incidents or emergencies.

This role operates on a rostered shift system, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.

The appointment will be made on the Administrative Grade 4 salary scale and is offered on a permanent contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is €32,141 to €39,885 gross per annum, excluding applicable shift payments.
