DESCRIPTION

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. We work on the most challenging problems, with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain — and we’re looking for talented people who want to help.

You’ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with people across AWS to help us deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers. And you’ll experience an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.

Key job responsibilities

Lead designs (construction drawings and specifications) for physical security elements (cameras, access control, intrusion detection, fences, gates, etc.) for DC projects
Using Blue Beam and other drafting technologies to work in collaboration with the design teams to produce designs in Revit (ACC)/CAD.
Coordinating security requirements with all the other disciplines during the design process of a new building / campus (architectural, mechanical, electrical, civil, IT)
Review and direct the work of physical security engineering design consultants
Be the Subject Matter Expert of all designs, supervise and approve all design deliverables developed by the 3rd party and in-house design services teams at each design milestones of a project.
Collaborate with other security organizations within AWS to develop design standards, evaluate cost, risk and benefits of designs and facilitate design discussions
Participate in maintenance Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for physical security elements
Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously.
Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, construction review, and interfacing with design consultants. Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.

From drafting intricate security blueprints to evaluating emerging technologies, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data center protection.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
Knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Experience in industrial or commercial engineering in mission critical facilities including but not limited to: data centers, power generation or oil and gas facilities
Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods of data center equipment and facilities
Experience in commissioning

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Professional Engineer License
Experience with building codes and regulations for your region
Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and into deployment or mass production
Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents
