Position Overview

Systems engineering teams at Analog Devices anticipate , uncover, and solve complex customer challenges ahead of product development by applying robust systems engineering methodologies and leveraging Analog Devices’ extensive portfolio of sensing technologies in collaboration with external partners.

As a Principal System Applications Engineer, you will work on system integration across embedded consumer platforms, addressing application-level challenges in the low-power consumer audio market with a special focus on Bluetooth integration.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

As a key member of our multi-disciplinary team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping next-generation audio experiences. Your responsibilities include:

Go to guy and a t hough leader on Bl uetooth

Defining Bluetooth Software features and working with internal teams, third parties and customer on how we deliver these Bluetooth features in a timely manor

Working with global, multi-disciplinary teams across hardware, software, and business domains, influencing stakeholders and ensuring alignment on project goals with respect to Bluetooth

Mentor and develop talent, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment

Shape technology and product roadmaps, aligning technology evolution with market needs and long-term business objectives with a special interest in wireless technologies that include Bluetooth, Wifi and UWB

C ustomer engagement s throughout the product development cycle—from concept to launch—debugging issues and resolving problems in our application and /or FPGA labs .

Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams (Marketing, Design, Software, Field Applications) and with external partners to deliver complete system solutions.

Understanding the complex Bluetooth system boundaries per Customer on what ADI deliver and what the Customer delivers

Deep u nderstand ing of market use cases to solve application-level challenges in hearable devices such as TWS earbuds and over-the-head headsets

Translate customer needs into solutions, thinking expansively and using a wide lens to capture both immediate and future requirements

Architect balanced system trade-offs between performance, power, complexity, and cost to meet demanding design goals

Drive hardware/software integration to ensure seamless user experiences

Support verification and validation efforts, including pre-silicon (FPGA systems) and post-silicon testing, to guarantee compliance with requirements

Develop evaluation kits, system designs, and customer-facing collateral such as application notes and demos

Create compelling demos for customer visits and tradeshow events

Provide technical communication and support during customer engagements to ensure success

Desired requirement s/Qualifications

Education & Experience

10+ years in product development roles within the electronics industry

5+ years in Bluetooth .

Preferred experience in both Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth LE Audio

Bachelor’s , M aster’s or PhD degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering, Embedded Firmware/Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent industry experience)

Experience with ARM/DSP/FPGA /BT platforms is a plus

Technical Expertise (knowledge and experience )

System Engineering methodologies and HW/SW product development flows, including requirements capture (e.g., Jama), integration, verification, and validation

Signal processing and multi-core development in the audio domain; experience with DSP cores (e.g., Cadence HiFi) and ARM cores is an advantage

Bluetooth and wireless protocols, including Wi-Fi and UWB

Knowledge of RF challenges with on body wireless technologies

Mixed-signal audio chains, specifically Analog audio architecture (e.g., ADC, PGA, Class D amplifiers) and performance metrics (e.g., SNR, THD)

Customer technical support at product and system level, including remote and face-to-face engagements

Testing and debugging techniques, with proficiency in tools such as oscilloscopes, Bluetooth analysers/sniffers, audio analysers (Audio Precision), and wireless protocol analysers

Delivery of system-level collateral for internal and external stakeholders, including hardware, software, and documentation

Ability to lead multi-disciplinary, globally distributed teams and influence stakeholders across hardware, software, and business domains

Strong understanding of architectures and system-level trade-offs to balance performance, power, complexity, PCB design and cost

Demonstrated experience in mentoring and fostering a collaborative, high-performing team environment

Skilled in creating technology and product roadmaps that align evolving technologies with market needs

Additional Knowledge

PCB development flow (schematic, layout, manufacturing) – beneficial but not required

Knowledge of Antenna design within the hearable form factor

Programming in C, C++, or Python, and familiarity with software development tools and flows (e.g., Git, JIRA, Jenkins)

Exposure to machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Caffe, PyTorch ) – beneficial but not required

Soft Skills & Attributes

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and strong team player

Comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in a multifaceted, cross-functional team with a start-up culture

Enthusiastic about consumer technology, especially in the audio market segment

Ability to travel up to 10% globally (U.S., Europe, Asia)
