Calibration Technician role overview:
The Calibration Technician is responsible for performing accredited calibration activities within Transcat's ISO/IEC 17025:2017 calibration laboratory and at customer sites. The role involves the calibration, adjustment, verification, and documentation of a broad range of measuring and test equipment across accredited calibration disciplines. Working in accordance with documented procedures, quality standards, and customer requirements, the Calibration Technician ensures all work is completed safely, accurately, and with full traceability. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical ability, attention to detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to delivering high-quality customer service while maintaining compliance within a regulated laboratory environment.
Responsibilities:
Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform accredited calibration, verification, adjustment, and troubleshooting activities on a broad range of measuring and test equipment within the laboratory and at customer sites, in accordance with company procedures and customer requirements.

Prepare and operate calibration standards and associated equipment to ensure accurate, reliable, and traceable measurement results.

Complete calibration records, certificates, and associated documentation accurately in accordance with quality system requirements.

Review calibration data and identify equipment outside specification, escalating technical or quality concerns where appropriate.

Ensure calibration standards, reference equipment, and associated assets are handled, stored, and maintained in accordance with company procedures.

Carry out on-site calibration activities at customer premises while maintaining professional standards, complying with site-specific health and safety requirements, and delivering excellent customer service.

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe laboratory and work environment, ensuring compliance with company policies and health and safety requirements.

Support investigations into calibration discrepancies, equipment failures, and non-conforming work as required.

Work collaboratively with colleagues across the laboratory and operational teams to meet customer turnaround times and business objectives.

Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve calibration methods, processes, efficiency, and customer service.

Maintain technical competence through ongoing training and development across multiple calibration disciplines.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Experience and Key Competencies:
- Previous experience working within a calibration, metrology, laboratory, engineering, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, medical device, or other regulated technical environment is desirable.

Experience performing calibration or testing activities across one or more measurement disciplines would be advantageous.

A Level 6 qualification (or higher) in Engineering, Instrumentation, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or another relevant technical discipline is desirable; however, equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Good understanding of measurement principles and the importance of traceability, accuracy, and quality within a technical environment.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to interpret technical procedures, specifications, and work instructions accurately.

Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workload and consistently meet customer commitments.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve technical issues within defined procedures.

Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications. Experience using calibration management software or laboratory information management systems would be advantageous.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and customers.

Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a collaborative technical team.

Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites throughout Ireland as required.

A proactive approach to learning and continuous professional development, with the ability to develop competence across multiple calibration disciplines.

Demonstrates a strong commitment to quality, customer service, health and safety, and maintaining the standards expected within an ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accredited laboratory.
