Overview:
Lab Services technician oversee all aspects of day-to-day laboratory operations and ensure timely support for delivery of Biologics Centre of Excellence (BCoE) lab studies, while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Responsibilities:

Communicate with team members and other functions to ensure all laboratory activities are coordinated.

Prepare buffers, media and cleaning solutions (10 mL – 500 L), and verify pH, conductivity, osmolality and other attributes as required.

Document all preparation steps and results in Electronic Lab Notebooks (eLN).
-
Complete required BPD and safety Risk Assessment training.
-
Support lab-based study requests from Manufacturing and QC.
-
Perform bio-hazardous waste inactivation.
-
Clean laboratory equipment, not limited to, biosafety cabinets, incubators, fume hoods, water baths, freezers, fridges on a periodic basis.

Daily pH/conductivity probe calibrations and freezer temperature checks.
-
Weekly balance calibrations and fume hood cleaning.
-
Monthly cleaning of BSCs, water baths, and pH probes.
-
Freezer management (LN₂ monitoring, defrosts, preventative maintenance).

Liaise with Equipment manager on equipment issues.
-
Order raw materials and consumables.
-
Act as the primary lab contact for warehouse, shipping and off-site storage.

Perform water and condensate sampling per procedure for lab RIW, LPUW and clean steam.

Maintain the cell bank dewars with weekly liquid nitrogen refills.

Alarm monitoring of controlled temperature units.

Support implementation of 6S in the lab.

Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Ability to use computer effectively as work requires.

Maintain the fridge and freezer sample tracking system, and perform yearly freezer defrosts.

Key Performance Metrics:

Adherence to lab operation plans & deliverables

Adherence to applicable safety and quality requirements, with no observations in compliance audits in area of responsibility.

Efficient communication with stakeholders via Daily Management System.
Education & Experience:
-
NCEA certificate in a related discipline or administrative qualification is preferable.
-
A minimum of 1-2 years laboratory housekeeping experience (preferably in GMP facility).
12 Month of contract with possibility of an extension
