Part-Time Chef / Experienced Cook

Padre Pio Care Centre, Churchtown, Mallow, Co. Cork

Windmill Healthcare is seeking to recruit an experienced and dedicated Part-Time Chef / Experienced Cook to join the catering team at Padre Pio Care Centre, a residential care centre providing person-centred care to older persons.

Food plays a vital role in the health, wellbeing, comfort, and quality of life of our residents. We are looking for a passionate individual who takes pride in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and who understands the importance of catering within a healthcare environment.

This role reports directly to the Director of Nursing / Person in Charge.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of a high-quality catering service within the Care Centre, ensuring residents receive nutritious, appetising meals that meet their individual dietary, cultural, and clinical needs while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and cook nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks for residents.
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standards while meeting residents' dietary and nutritional requirements.
Support the nutritional wellbeing of residents through appropriate menu planning and food preparation.
Prepare texture-modified diets and special dietary requirements as required.
Maintain full compliance with HACCP, food safety regulations, infection prevention and control standards, and Health & Safety legislation.
Ensure the kitchen and food preparation areas are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Monitor food quality, portion control, and resident satisfaction.
Work collaboratively with nursing staff and management to support residents' nutritional needs.
Assist with stock rotation, ordering, and minimising food waste.
Promote a positive dining experience that enhances residents' quality of life and dignity.
Liaise with residents regarding menu choices and meal preferences where appropriate.

Experience

Previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment.
Minimum 1 year's experience in a Chef or Cook role.
Experience working in a nursing home, healthcare, hospital, or residential care setting would be an advantage.
Knowledge of catering for older persons and special dietary requirements is desirable.

Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety requirements.
Ability to prepare nutritious, high-quality meals for older persons.

Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
A caring and resident-focused approach.
