Job Title: Healthcare Assistant

Reporting to: Clinical Operations Manager

Location: IFPA Clinic at Cathal Brugha Street, Dublin 1

Contract: 1 day/week Friday. Maternity Leave contract

8am - 4pm

The successful applicant will be a qualified healthcare assistant with professional experience working as a HCA, ideally from within a similar healthcare environment.

QQI or FETAC Level 5 qualification in a healthcare discipline will be a requirement of the role.

Job Description:

The postholder will perform Healthcare Assistant duties including supporting patients during their clinic visits, assisting doctors during procedures, preparing examination rooms and medical trolleys, supporting medical staff, chaperoning some patients during intimate doctor examinations, some administration work relating to the role.

Key Responsibilities

To assist doctors with clinical services such IUD insertions and Implanon fittings and removals. Includes preparation of examination rooms and medical instrument trolleys.
Take patients history; check blood pressure, urine analysis, weight and bloods, pregnancy tests, when required by doctors.
Monitor and manage stock of medical and clinical supplies.
To be available as a chaperone for patients, as required, for intimate doctor examinations.
To assist clients as required during clinic visits.
Phlebotomy (desirable), where candidate qualifications and experience are met.
Provide assistance to Early Medical Administrator to ensure EMA packs are available.
Use of Helix patient software for access to and updates to client files.
Assist with research within IFPA clinical settings.
Complete lab forms for screening samples (self-taken swabs) or on Healthlink, as required by doctor.

Some administrative work to include contacting clients in relation to clinic appointments and scanning/shredding documents, system recalls for cervical check and LARC.

Person Specification

Requirements:

QQI or FETAC Level 5 qualification in a healthcare discipline.
High level of competency in the use of IT systems and or health service applications.
Adaptable and willing to assist clinic staff within the parameters of the role.
Excellent communication abilities, including a high standard of oral and written English.
Familiarity with online systems/processes.
Previous experience of working in a similar healthcare setting, particularly in relation to women's health services, is desirable.
Ability to engage empathically and appropriately with clients while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries.
