Full job description

Role Summary

The Social Programme Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering Apollo's social and cultural programme for international students. The role plays a key part in enhancing the student experience by creating engaging activities, promoting student participation, supporting English language practice, and ensuring the safe and smooth delivery of social events and excursions.

Working closely with the Office Manager, Student Experience Team, Operations Team, and Marketing Team, the Social Programme Coordinator helps create a welcoming, inclusive, and memorable experience for all students attending Apollo.

Key Responsibilities

Social Programme Delivery & Activity Leadership

Plan and deliver a fun, engaging, and diverse programme of social activities and excursions.
Lead groups to cultural attractions, museums, and key destinations across Ireland.
Provide informative and engaging commentary during activities and visits.
Deliver activities in line with Apollo's social programme framework while introducing new and creative ideas.
Capture high-quality photo and video content during activities and excursions.
Share content with the marketing team and post updates on social media in accordance with Apollo brand guidelines.

Student Engagement & Experience

Create a welcoming and inclusive environment that encourages student participation.
Engage students in conversation to build confidence and support English language practice.
Promote weekly activities and encourage bookings through the Apollo Student App.
Respond to student queries and concerns professionally, escalating issues when required.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to enhance the overall student experience.

Operations & Administrative Support

Manage bookings, attendance records, and logistical coordination for activities and excursions.
Organise payments relating to programme activities in line with Apollo procedures.
Prepare and distribute weekly schedules, announcements, and internal communications.
Support operational tasks including:
Coordinating agency visits and school tours.
Assisting with emergency support phone cover on a rota basis.
Supporting student arrivals during the summer period (up to two Sundays in July and August).
Carry out general administrative and operational duties as required.

Team Collaboration

Work closely with the Office Manager, Student Experience Team, and Operations Team to ensure the smooth delivery of all social programme activities.
Assist with scheduling, meeting point coordination, and transport arrangements.
Provide regular updates and feedback regarding programme performance and student engagement.

Safety & Student Welfare

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of students at all times during activities and excursions.
Follow all Apollo safeguarding, welfare, health and safety, and emergency procedures.
Report safeguarding, welfare, or safety concerns promptly and professionally to the appropriate staff member.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will demonstrate enthusiasm, reliability, and a passion for creating positive experiences for international students.

Essential Requirements

Experience in customer service, tourism, education, events, hospitality, or a related field.
Strong organisational and administrative skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Confidence in leading and managing groups.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to work.
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Requirements

Experience working with international students.
Knowledge of Irish cultural and tourist attractions.
Social media and content creation experience.
Photography and video content creation skills.

Reports to: Office Manager
Location: Apollo Language Centre, Dublin
Hours: Monday to Friday, 12:00pm - 4:00pm, plus 2 Saturdays per month (Saturday hours vary depending on excursion destinations)

Pay: €16.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

Dublin, County Dublin: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
