MEDECINS SANS FRONTIERES IE

Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF) provides life-saving emergency relief and longer-term medical care to some of the most vulnerable and excluded communities around the world. As an independent medical humanitarian organisation, we deliver care based only on need, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, religion or political affiliation.MSF relies on donations from private individuals and organisations for the majority of its income. This private funding gives MSF the freedom to respond where needs are greatest and to speak out publicly, free from any political interference.

MSF has around 67,000 local and international staff working in over 70 countries, in some of the most challenging places in the world. Our medical humanitarian projects are supported by offices in 44 countries, including the UK and Ireland. These teams recruit staff, organise fundraising, and raise awareness on the humanitarian crises our colleagues are witnessing, as well as running different and diverse support activities. Position:

JOB TITLE:Prospect Research Officer MSF Ireland

DEPARTMENT:MSF Ireland Philanthropy

REPORTS TO (JOB TITLE): Head of Philanthropy

HOURS:37.5 hours per week

LOCATION:Dublin; Hybrid (3 days per week in office)

DURATION: 3-Year FTC

SALARY GRADE: 15.1 - 15.2

SALARY:€ 53,511.08 - € 55,889.36 (Depending on experience)

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy, and working closely across the Philanthropy team, this is a pivotal new role which aligns with MSF’s strategic fundraising ambitions and will be crucial to securing increased income from new sources. In collaboration with colleagues in the Philanthropy Team, the postholder will define an effective prospect research strategy, which they will be responsible for supporting, streamlining and implementing in order to deliver a strong and sustainable prospect pipeline. The Prospect Research Officer will play a leading role in identifying new sources of philanthropic support from charitable Trusts/Foundations, corporates, and individual major donors, to achieve increased income growth in the Philanthropy Team in support of MSF’s strategic priorities. They will create and implement effective systems, processes and management tools and embed these new ways of working in the Philanthropy Team. They will also be responsible for providing up to date research and due diligence reports on new and existing donors, in line with MSF policies, in addition to providing relevant benchmarking reports to MSF Ireland Senior Management in terms of the organisation’s relative positioning and performance within the Irish market

Requirements:

Knowledge

Knowledge of legal requirements relevant legislation and good ethical practices in fundraising.
Strong understanding of data protection and GDPR in a research context
Detailed knowledge of research tools and resources, as well as trends and innovations in prospecting (tools, techniques and best practice).
Knowledge of philanthropy and prospect development best practice.
Knowledge of the Irish charitable giving market

Experience

Demonstrable experience of successful prospect research (identification and qualification) and moves management within the Irish charity sector.
Experience of using data analysis and modelling for prospect identification and prospect management.
Experience developing and implementing prospect management systems.
Experience of using databases, including to analyse and interpret information.
Experience in the practical use of personal IT equipment and Microsoft Office 365 suite. The ability to effectively collaborate and communicate within a hybrid working environment utilising Teams, SharePoint, Microsoft.

Skills

Excellent organisation skills with the ability to dynamically prioritise a workload and twork independently with minimum supervision under tight deadlines.
Excellent report-writing skills, including the ability to interpret and present data to a varied audience and in a variety of formats.
Excellent communication skills with an ability to produce accurate and succinct research profiles and reports to a high standard.
Highly motivated, able to work independently under own initiative.
Proactive and positive approach.
Willingness to collaborate and support colleagues.
