Full job description

Four Seasons Promotions Ltd is currently recruiting a full-time Caretaker / Facilities Operative to support the delivery of facilities services across several Cork City Council locations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day care, security and general upkeep of assigned sites. The role requires a proactive, reliable and customer-focused individual who can identify and address maintenance issues, support contractors and ensure that each location is maintained to a safe and professional standard.

Flexibility will be required, as the position will involve working shifts between 8:00 a.m. and 18:00 p.m., Monday to Friday. There may be some Saturdays and Sunday required

Key Responsibilities

Provide a professional, courteous and responsive service to Cork City Council personnel, site users, visitors and members of the public.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with Cork City Council representatives, contractors and internal management.
Carry out regular inspections of buildings, grounds and facilities to identify maintenance, safety or security concerns.
Complete minor repairs and general maintenance tasks within the scope of the role.
Report building faults promptly and ensure that any affected area is made safe until the appropriate contractor attends.
Respond to maintenance requests and operational issues in a timely and professional manner.
Open and close assigned buildings in accordance with agreed site procedures.
Monitor access to sites and report any security concerns, damage, unauthorised activity or antisocial behaviour.
Assist with the coordination and supervision of subcontractors attending the sites.
Ensure contractors comply with site procedures, health and safety requirements and Safe Work Plans.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, maintenance issues, contractor visits and completed tasks.
Support management in reviewing services, procedures and working practices to improve efficiency and service quality.
Assist with site inspections and identify areas where required standards are not being met.
Ensure buildings, public areas, storage areas and external grounds are maintained in a clean, safe and orderly condition.
Comply with all company and Cork City Council health and safety policies, procedures and site rules.
Carry out any other reasonable duties associated with the effective operation of the assigned sites.

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in a caretaker, facilities, maintenance, construction or similar operational role.
Good general maintenance and practical problem-solving skills.
Strong awareness of workplace health and safety requirements.
Ability to identify hazards, building defects and maintenance issues.
Ability to prioritise tasks and manage several responsibilities at the same time.
Good organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.
Good communication and customer service skills.
Comfortable using email, mobile applications and basic facilities-management or reporting software.
Flexible and available to work shifts, including weekends, early mornings and evenings.
Full, clean driving licence and access to transport are desirable due to the requirement to work across multiple locations.

Desirable Experience

Previous experience working across multiple sites.
Valid Safe Pass certification.
Valid Manual Handling certification.
Experience in facilities management, local authority, public-sector, environments.
Experience managing or supervising contractors on site.
Fire Warden, First Aid or other relevant health and safety training.
A Private Security Authority License is desirable.
Willingness to complete the Garda Vetting process.
Experience dealing with members of the public in a customer-facing environment.
