The Europe Hotel and Resort, located in the heart of Killarney, is a proud member of the prestigious Killarney Hotels Collection and is consistently recognized as one of Ireland’s top 5-star hotels. We are currently recruiting an experienced and passionate Baker to join our Kitchen Department.
This position is part of Killarney Hotels Collection, which includes our sister properties The Dunloe Hotel Gardens and Ard na Sidhe Country House. While this role is based at The Europe Hotel Resort, we take pride in being part of a wider collection that shares the same commitment to excellence and guest experience.
As a Baker, you will:
- Oversee the daily operations of the bakery within the kitchen.
- Prepare and produce a wide range of premium-quality bakery products, including artisan breads, rolls, sourdoughs, Irish soda breads, Viennoiserie, Danish pastries, sweet pastries and puff pastry products.
- Ensure all bakery products are prepared in accordance with approved recipes, specifications and five-star presentation standards.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef, Head Chef and Head Baker in the development of seasonal menus, à la carte offerings, banqueting menus and daily specials.
- Support breakfast, banqueting, conferences and high-volume production while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Monitor stock levels, assist with purchasing, stock taking and food cost management to support efficient departmental operations.
- Minimise food waste and support sustainability, recycling and waste management initiatives.
- Ensure full compliance with HACCP, food safety legislation, allergen management and Health Safety procedures, including maintaining accurate records and documentation.
- Ensure bakery equipment is maintained, cleaned and operated safely in accordance with company standards.
- Coach, motivate and support colleagues, fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
- Maintain strong working relationships with colleagues across the Kitchen and Food Beverage departments.
- Keep up to date with current bakery and culinary trends, introducing innovative ideas where appropriate.
- Assume responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Bakery in the absence of the Head Baker.
We are looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in a similar Bakery role, ideally within a five-star hotel, luxury resort or high-volume hospitality environment.
- Strong technical knowledge of artisan bread production, sourdough fermentation, yeast breads, Irish soda breads, laminated doughs, Viennoiserie and premium pastry production.
- Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills, with fluency in English language.
- A creative approach to food preparation and presentation, with exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to coach, motivate and support colleagues while working effectively as part of a professional team.
- Flexibility with working hours is essential, including early starts around 3a.m.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic and genuine passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
