Job Description

Job Title: Depot Manager.

Reporting Into: Operations Director (or his nominee).

Hours: 8:30am to 5:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Location: Waterford

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, the Depot Manager is responsible for the day to day running of the logistics and transport functions across the site, forward planning, staff management and efficiencies within the warehouse are key to a successful operation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversee all day-to-day depot operations to ensure efficiency, compliance, and profitability.
Assist in preparing and monitoring depot budgets, including labour costs, fleet costs, and operational expenditures.
Ensure all customer orders are dispatched accurately and on time.
Maintain high standards of customer service through proactive engagement.
Manage depot fleet, including scheduling, compliance, and maintenance requirements.
Work closely with Rigid Drivers and the Fleet team to ensure efficient and compliant operations and ensure full compliance with Driver Rules and transport regulations.
Uphold and monitor health & safety standards across the depot in line with company policy and legislation.
Maintain safety records, investigate incidents, and lead continuous improvement in safety culture.
Support HR processes locally, including onboarding, training, rostering, time/attendance monitoring, and performance discussions.
Participate in staff recruitment, development, and ongoing training delivery, plus complete ad hoc duties when required.
Prepare and reconcile daily depot administration, including logs, dispatch reports, and financial records.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

Proven experience in a senior capacity within the logistics or distribution industry with high-volume, complex operations.
Prior experience as a Depot Supervisor/Manager, or similar operational leadership role, an advantage.
Experience working cross-functionally with multiple teams including Sales teams, IT, Finance, and Operations.
A strong knowledge and understanding of health & safety legislation and audit procedures
Experience with staff leadership, HR processes, and training delivery.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
Excellent organisational, administrative, and time-management skills, with the ability to delegate effectively.
Full, clean driving licence required.
You will be a confident communicator/presenter with the skills to lead and manage teams as well as influence strategy and liaise with senior management.
A person capable of decisive and effective decision-making, in a time pressured environment.
A passion for building and motivating high-performing teams.
Someone that really enjoys resolving problems and demonstrates high levels of resilience, self-motivation, and flexibility.
