ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Working as part of the Production Team to reduce/ eliminate downtime, assisting each other for the benefit of all.
· Running the Provender Molassed and Vitamin Premix panels when requested following standard documented (SOP) production procedures.
· Filling bulk bins with raw materials using the loader and intake system.
· Monitoring machine components, belts bearings chains and reporting any issues immediately.
· Co-ordinating the production plan in conjunction with the Production Supervisor.
· Ensuring that the system is flushed as outlined in the daily plans, especially before making sheep and pig minerals.
· Filling out lot numbers on the panel sheets, completing downtime reports and cleaning sheets and transfer of all material and finished product made on the computer system at the end of each day.
· Must notify the quality manager or the production supervisor if there is a problem with the quality of the product (a lot can be detected visually).
· Must co-operate fully with management and other employees.
· Ensuring the panel area (upstairs and downstairs) are tidy and organized and turning off all equipment, when the shift is over.
· Carry out his work in a manner that does not put himself or other employee exposed to a safety risk.
· Keep the panel areas clean and tidy.
· Hand weighting and tipping raw materials as per the bill of materials.
· Following standard operating procedures as laid out in the GMP + and UFAS feed assurance scheme.
· Ensuring the panel raw material bins are kept topped up in conjunction with the Volvo driver
· Taking off mini bulk, labeling, and sampling same. Transfer and storage of block premix in the block premix area in an organized fashion.
· Completing all documentation, including quality sheets, production plan, production records, taking and recording samples.
· Recording downtime including reasons for downtime and problems
· Must notify the quality manager or production supervisor if there is a problem with weights or quality of the product.
· Must check to make sure the panel forklift has diesel and is maintained in a good condition. Must report any faults e.g. Brakes or oil leaks to the operations manager or safety coordinator.
· Provide training for other operators as required and train and operate in other areas of the production plant as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
· Standard Leaving Cert. education, with some on the job experience in the above function.
· Forklift drivers license an advantage
· Mechanical aptitude an advantage.
· IT competency an advantage
KEY SKILLS AND CORE COMPETENCIES
· Person with the ability to work in an organized fashion, a self-starter and motivated to ensure that finished products are manufactured to spec in a timely fashion.
Additional requirement:
Completing the daily, weekly and monthly house-keeping plan as outlined in the GMP + and UFAS plans.
Due to the seasonality of the business it is expected that holidays be taken in so far as possible in the off peak time (April to Aug).
Due to the seasonality of the business the company will require flexibility in the hours of work during the busy period.
