Full job description

Respite Social Care Leader

(Full time)

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the establishment of a new respite house that will support individuals across the region. Initially based in Kilkenny, the successful candidate will work closely with colleagues from the existing respite service at Teach Sonas, Carlow, helping to develop and deliver a high-quality, person-centred service as the new respite house becomes operational.

Purpose of Role:

The Social Care Leader operates at a middle management level, providing leadership, supervision and support to a team of Social Care Workers and Care Assistants. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred services that empower adults with intellectual disabilities to live self-determined and meaningful lives. Working collaboratively with families, multidisciplinary teams, management and community stakeholders, the Social Care Leader will champion the rights, choices and aspirations of the people we support.

Key Tasks:

Lead, support and develop a team of Social Care Workers and Care Assistants.

Manage staff rosters through the Time Management System (TMS) to ensure effective service delivery.

Promote and uphold the values, aims and objectives of Delta Centre in all aspects of practice.

Ensure the implementation of person-centred plans and behavioural support plans, achieving the best possible outcomes for the people we support.

Hold regular team meetings and support staff through supervision, mentoring and training.

Identify staff training needs and support the induction and development of new and existing team members.

Complete audits, including resident and household finances, and maintain accurate records and documentation.

Support the Service Manager in quality assurance, service development initiatives and regulatory reporting requirements.

Maintain effective communication with families, advocates, multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

Ensure compliance with HIQA Standards, the Health Act 2007, safeguarding requirements, medication management policies and all organisational procedures.

Promote dignity, privacy, independence, rights, choice and community participation for all individuals supported by the service.

Maintain high standards of health and safety, fire safety and environmental management within the service.

CORU registration Requirement:

Applicants must be CORU registered or have their application submitted.

Pay Scale:

€56,047- €65,452 (linked to HSE PayScale)

Minimum Qualification requirements:

QQI Level 8 (Honours) Degree in Social Care or an equivalent qualification recognised by the relevant professional and regulatory bodies.

A recognised management qualification, or currently undertaking one, is desirable.

Knowledge & Skills:

Excellent knowledge of HIQA Standards and the Health Act 2007.

Strong understanding of person-centred practice and supporting adults with intellectual disabilities.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to listen and respond effectively to the needs of people who use services.

Strong leadership, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Ability to be innovative, creative and work on one's own initiative.

Excellent record keeping, report writing and administrative skills.

Excellent knowledge of health and safety standards and compliance requirements.

Experience:

A minimum of 4 years post-qualification experience in the area of intellectual disability.

A minimum of 3 years management or leadership experience within a healthcare setting is desirable.
