Full job description

The Head Barista is responsible for leading the day-to-day coffee operations, ensuring exceptional beverage quality, delivering outstanding customer service, and supporting the development of the café team. This role combines hands-on barista expertise with leadership, training, and operational responsibilities.

Must have 2 years experience and a interest in specialty coffee

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and espresso-based beverages to a consistently high standard.
Lead, motivate, and support the barista team during daily operations.
Train and mentor new and existing staff on coffee preparation, customer service, and café standards.
Monitor coffee quality, extraction, milk texturing, and presentation to maintain consistency.
Manage stock levels, place orders, and liaise with suppliers to ensure adequate inventory.
Oversee opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and daily operational checks.
Maintain food safety, hygiene, and health and safety standards in line with company policies.
Schedule staff, delegate tasks, and ensure smooth service during busy periods.
Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally and efficiently.
Work with management to improve menu offerings, increase sales, and enhance the customer experience.

Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a barista, with previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Excellent knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming, latte art, and coffee brewing methods.
Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high quality.
Customer-focused with excellent interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of food safety and HACCP procedures.
Flexible, reliable, and capable of leading by example.
