Full job description

The 4-star Arklow Bay Hotel is a well-established, family-run hotel located in the scenic seaside town of Arklow, Co. Wicklow, overlooking a beautiful nature reserve and bay views. The hotel offers 91 bedrooms, extensive conference and banqueting facilities for up to 450 guests, a vibrant leisure centre, and popular dining options in the Ferrybank Lounge and Pottery Restaurant. Easily accessible from Dublin by road and rail, Arklow Bay Hotel is a thriving destination for leisure, corporate, and event guests.

The Role

We are currently seeking a Part-Time Receptionist to join our Front of House team. This is a customer-facing role suited to a friendly, organised individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced hotel environment and delivering excellent guest experiences.

As a key point of contact for our guests, you will play an important role in ensuring smooth day-to-day front desk operations while maintaining the highest standards of service.

Key Responsibilities

Welcome and register guests on arrival in line with hotel check-in procedures
Handle guest check-outs accurately and efficiently
Answer telephone calls promptly in a friendly and professional manner
Manage reservations in line with rate management and hotel procedures
Liaise closely with the Reservations and Housekeeping departments to ensure room availability and readiness
Communicate special guest requirements (e.g. cots, extra beds, early check-ins) to relevant departments
Provide guests with information on hotel facilities, services, dining options, and local attractions
Assist guests with enquiries and resolve complaints in a professional and timely manner
Ensure all cash handling and billing procedures are followed correctly
Maintain full knowledge of bedroom types, locations, and hotel facilities
Allocate arrivals for upcoming business as required
Ensure all guest requests are dealt with efficiently and courteously

Essential Requirements

Previous experience in hotel reception or a customer-facing hospitality role is desirable
Strong customer service skills with a warm, welcoming manner
Fluent English with a strong command of the language
Basic computer skills essential; knowledge of Hotsoft PMS is an advantage
Ability to prioritise tasks and work well under pressure
Flexible availability to work a variety of shifts, including mornings, evenings, midweek, and weekends
Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a busy environment
Cash handling experience advantages.
