The Team The Strategy & Policy Function, within the Corporate Services Office, leads this drive for excellence, managing and overseeing the execution of the strategy delivery programme. This function also manages and coordinates external policy developments and associated matters and our engagement with Government.
Job Purpose The Strategy Analyst will play a central role in driving the implementation and delivery of the business strategy, developing strong relationships with stakeholders across the organisation and building a deep understanding of how functional activities integrate to deliver on strategic priorities. The role holder will be responsible for establishing and embedding effective processes, and for adopting and utilising appropriate systems to support high‑quality strategic work, enabling robust information gathering and data analysis.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and delivery of the business strategy by gathering, analysing, and synthesising information from across all functions to inform Executive and Board level reporting.
- Develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure strategic priorities are understood, supported, and progressed effectively.
- Build a clear understanding of how activities across different functions integrate to deliver on the company’s strategic objectives and use this insight to inform high quality analysis and reporting.
- Establish, maintain, and continuously improve processes, tools, and systems that enable effective information management, tracking, and strategic reporting.
- Prepare clear, structured, and insightful reports, presentations, and briefing materials for the Executive Team and the EirGrid Board, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and strategic relevance.
- Monitor progress against strategic priorities, identifying risks, interdependencies, and opportunities, and escalating issues appropriately.
- Collaborate across the organisation to ensure alignment between functional activities, corporate priorities, and the overarching business strategy.
- Support the coordination of strategic governance processes, ensuring timely preparation of submissions, updates, and materials for senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic research and analysis, including industry, regulatory, and policy developments, to support organisational awareness and inform strategic decisionmaking.
- Foster a collaborative and proactive approach to strategy delivery by engaging with internal stakeholders, anticipating information needs, and facilitating consistent communication
- Support strategy-related research activities including industry, regulatory and policy trend analysis including developing position papers and briefings.
- Support the identification of risks and opportunities to the execution of EirGrid’s strategy and work with the business owners to mitigate or exploit these
- Support the delivery of key corporate governance requirements for compliance with the Code of Practice for the Governance of State Bodies.
- Ensure strategic and business issues and proposed solutions are highlighted appropriately to the Head of Strategy & Policy.
- Represent EirGrid at external forums and events.
- Manage specific assigned projects and initiatives on behalf of the Chief Executive and the Executive Team.
- Prepare presentations and papers for the Chief Executive and the Chairperson, to support them in engaging with the Board and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Leadership and collaboration capabilities to engage cross-functional teams in our engagement and thought leadership initiatives.
- Strong business acumen and commercial understanding
- Strong analytical skills and rigorous attention to detail
- Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; ability to navigate the organisation and garner support from multiple areas to deliver initiatives
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise under pressure of deadlines, while working independently; knows when and how to escalate appropriately
- Qualified to degree or masters level in a relevant discipline
- Deep knowledge of the Group's activities and understanding of the electricity sector is helpful, but not essential
