Post Summary:
To provide technical support across a wide range of IT services including physical IT infrastructure, (copper and fibre), data centres and comms rooms, access layer 2 and distribution layer 3, WiFi Access Points and IP Telephony. The role-holder will have expertise in Cisco, HP and other LAN networking technologies and protocols. The role identifies and resolves common switched network issues and IPv4 and IPv6. The role partakes in ‘NOC’ (‘Networks On Call’) duties and together with colleagues in the IT Service Desk and other teams delivers excellent customer service to resolve incidents for staff and students engaged in research, teaching & learning and administration across Trinity College. The role actively engages in Capital Works and Refurbishment Projects and other IT Projects across the Trinity Campus and satellite sites.
*At the end of this competition, a panel of suitably qualified individuals to fill Senior Technical Officer (IT Network Engineer) vacancies in IT Services will be created. Should a position become available, within 6 months of the interview date, the candidates who are deemed appointable from this competition will be offered the next available post.*
Post status: Specific Purpose Contract
The specific purpose of this post is to assist with Wi-Fi design and deployment as part of Digital Trinity Infrastructure Programme: Next Gen Wi-Fi. This position is required solely for the duration of this project. This position is not offered on an indefinite duration basis as it is linked to a capital project rather than an ongoing operational need. Once the project is completed and objectives are met, the requirement for this role will cease.
Hours of Post: 36.5 hours per week
Salary: This appointment will be made on the Senior Technical Officer Salary Scale (€61,736 - €74,170 per annum). at a point in line with current Government pay policy. monthly/weekly payscales. (tcd.ie)
