We are establishing a panel to provide cover for leave, short-term vacancies and peak operational demands within RTÉ Radio. Radio Broadcast Co-ordinators play a key support role, working closely with editorial and technical teams to deliver high-quality radio content. The role involves providing administrative and clerical support across office and studio settings, as well as on Outside Broadcasts, ensuring smooth and effective programme delivery.
Meet the Team
You’ll be joining a fast-paced, collaborative team at the heart of RTÉ Radio. The team works across a wide range of live and pre-recorded programming, supporting production, scheduling and on-air delivery. It’s a supportive environment where knowledge-sharing, flexibility and teamwork are key, and where everyone contributes to delivering high-quality content to audiences every day. You’ll work closely with producers, presenters and technical colleagues, gaining exposure to all aspects of radio operations while developing your skills in a dynamic public service environment.
About the role
Reporting to the Manager of Programme Support you will be:

Providing administrative support to the programme teams
-
Co-ordinating the bookings for studio and technical facilities
-
Setting up the radio studio for all elements of a broadcast including visual radio
-
Screening incoming calls and messages from listeners using Phonebox
-
Updating the programme’s social media sites and websites
-
Clipping and publishing podcasts under Producer’s supervision
-
Cutting items using Radioman
-
Creating, designing and maintaining programme databases, programme reports and running orders
-
Processing all programme payments and competition administration, including handling competition prizes, and ensuring delivery to winners
-
Ensuring completion of release forms for all contributors
-
Providing running orders and any other programme information for archive purposes
-
Logging music returns and programme information as required including interface with new DRM technologies, Metadata, and Podcasting
About You
You will ideally possess the following:

Proven strong administrative experience
-
Experience in a live broadcast environment
-
Excellent PC skills, in particular around social networking and podcasting
-
Familiarity with Clipper, Epic and Radioman desirable
-
Good interpersonal, as well as written and oral, communication skills with a professional telephone manner
-
Excellent attention to detail
-
The ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a busy team

The ability to prioritise work and meet tight deadlines
-
A keen interest in radio, including knowledge of RTÉ’s radio schedules
-
Knowledge of current affairs, music, sport, the arts, entertainment and the media landscape

A relevant 3rd level qualification would be advantageous but not essential
-
The role will involve irregular working hours over 7 days therefore full flexibility is an essential requirement.
Application Process
Applicants who are successful in achieving a place on the Panel may be contracted on a casual irregular fixed-term contract basis and paid at an appropriate rate on the Broadcasting Assistant scale from €16.27 to €24.26 gross per hour. Future vacancies may be filled from this panel which will last for two years.
