Post Summary

The Discipline of Physiotherapy at Trinity College Dublin (TCD) invites applications for the positions of Academic Clinical Specialist in Physiotherapy. This post has been established in response to the continued expansion of physiotherapy education programmes, aligned with increasing demand from the Higher Education Authority (HEA) to support a growing population and the corresponding need to expand training capacity.

The primary aim of the post is to enhance placement capacity by providing additional support to practice educators and students, developing and project managing innovative placement models that strengthen capacity and contributing to the advancement of practice education within the Discipline. The post requires an experienced Physiotherapist to work as part of the physiotherapy team and to contribute to university-based teaching as well as academic administrative duties related to practice education.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the research profile of the Discipline, particularly in the area of practice education, through active engagement in research activities, while also contributing to the broader administration of the Discipline. The successful candidate will be based at the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences, St. James’s Hospital, and will travel regularly to support practice educators and students across a range of placement settings.

Post status: 4 Year Fixed-Term Contract

The purpose of this role is to support the delivery of increased placement capacity for a four-year term arising from increased student numbers resulting from an HEA mandated increase in student numbers across physiotherapy courses at TCD. The requirement for the post is temporary and relates to a defined period of increase student numbers. The contract will therefore terminate on completion of this period.

Hours of Post: Hours of work for academic staff are those as prescribed under Public Service Agreements.

Salary: Appointment will be made on the HSE Clinical Specialist Pay Scale Salary Scale at a point in line with Government Pay Policy [€71,405 to €82,860 per annum]
