Full job description

O'Connell's Bar is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Head of Security to lead and manage our security operations in one of Galway City's busiest hospitality venues.

This is a leadership role where strong team management skills are essential. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the security team, maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for customers and staff, and ensuring the highest standards of professionalism are upheld at all times.

Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and manage the venue's security team.
Organise staff rotas and ensure adequate security coverage.
Maintain a safe environment for customers, staff, and visitors.
Handle incidents professionally and efficiently.
Ensure compliance with all venue policies, licensing requirements, and health & safety regulations.
Train, mentor, and develop members of the security team.
Liaise with management, staff, emergency services, and local authorities when required.
Conduct regular performance reviews and maintain high standards of service.

Requirements

Proven experience in a Security Management or senior security leadership role.
Strong experience managing and motivating teams.
Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to remain calm and make effective decisions under pressure.
Experience within the hospitality sector is desirable.
Strong understanding of venue security procedures and customer service.
Valid PSA Security Licence (essential).
