DevOps Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused DevOps Engineer to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a production environment, enjoys troubleshooting complex issues, and is passionate about improving system reliability, operational processes, and customer experience.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining and supporting business-critical systems, responding to incidents, investigating customer issues, automating operational tasks, and continuously improving documentation and runbooks. You will collaborate across teams and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a fast-paced, highly asynchronous environment.

Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations & Incident Management

Monitor, respond to, and troubleshoot production alerts and system incidents.
Quickly identify the source of issues and determine whether failures originate from internal systems, customer environments, or external providers.
Escalate incidents appropriately based on established procedures and experience.
Communicate clearly and confidently during service disruptions, providing updates on known and unknown factors while investigations are ongoing.
Support customers during high-pressure situations and maintain a calm, professional approach.

System Administration & Automation

Safely manage and support Linux-based production systems.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and operational utilities.
Configure and manage scheduled jobs, services, and system processes.
Support infrastructure automation and configuration management initiatives.
Troubleshoot and analyze infrastructure, application, and integration issues.

Documentation & Knowledge Management

Create, maintain, and improve operational runbooks and technical documentation.
Expand internal knowledge bases and document critical procedures and troubleshooting steps.
Capture and share institutional and operational knowledge to improve team effectiveness.

Customer Support & Service Reliability

Investigate customer-specific issues using transaction-level analysis rather than relying solely on aggregate system metrics.
Query and analyze structured and unstructured logs to answer customer questions efficiently.
Provide evidence-based findings and recommendations to customers and internal stakeholders.
Balance urgency with careful analysis, understanding when immediate remediation is appropriate and when deeper investigation is required.

Required QualificationsTechnical Skills

Strong experience administering Linux production environments.
Proficiency with:
Shell scripting (Bash or similar)
SSH
systemctl
Crontab
sudo
Ansible
Experience working with large log files and command-line analysis tools such as:
grep
awk
sort
uniq
Ability to work with compressed files and perform remote troubleshooting without downloading data locally.
Understanding of operating system concepts and how hardware resources are represented within Linux.
Experience creating scripts and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
Familiarity with software development practices and DevOps methodologies.

Communication & Collaboration

Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers during incidents and periods of uncertainty.
Comfortable working in a highly asynchronous environment.
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.
Ability to provide clear status updates and proactively seek assistance when needed.

Preferred Qualifications

7+ years as DevOps Engineer
Experience within capital markets, financial services, or fintech environments.
Exposure to mission-critical systems and customer-facing financial platforms.
Understanding of B2B customer support workflows.
Experience supporting integrations between internal and external systems.
Knowledge of the FIX Protocol is an advantage but not required.
