OM2 (OLED Material Manufacturing Limited) is located in Shannon, Ireland, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of its Irish parent company, UDC Ireland Limited (UDI), and, ultimately, Universal Display Corporation (UDC), a publicly- traded company headquartered in the United States (U.S.). UDC and UDI are world leaders in the development of state-of-the-art materials and technologies for use in organic light emitting diode (OLED) displays and lighting.

Position Type:
This is a temporary 8-12 month position.

Job Summary:
The Process Scientist is responsible for the industrialization of laboratory-scale processes to ensure successful scale-up for manufacturing. This role involves developing and optimizing synthetic and analytical methods, documenting technology transfer, managing projects, and maintaining industry standards in the laboratory. The successful candidate will work both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve the company’s goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Industrialize laboratory-scale processes into scalable manufacturing operations.
To be familiar with the development and optimization of synthetic reactions and analytical methods using techniques such as GC-FID, GC-MS, UPLC, UPLC-HDR,UPLC-MS, FTIR, KF, and NMR.
Prepare and manage technology transfer documentation to facilitate seamless knowledge transfer between teams and sites including bills of materials (BOMs),and preparation of process flow charts for manufacturing processes and material movements.
Prepare Management of change (MOC) procedures, with risk assessments in collaboration with the local EHS representative.
Preparation of Batch Manufacturing Records (BMR) and liaising with the team for input, updates and improvements.
Write, review and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure process consistency and compliance with regulatory standards. Provide training on SOPs where necessary.
Manage projects related to process development, ensuring that timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
Preparation of Certificate of Analysis (CoAs) documentation and for batch handover and sample shipments.
Compiling consumable orders and creating purchase requests
Operate and manage large-scale reactors and be familiar with unit operations such as filtration and chromatography.
Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS) such as ISO or GMP, and adhere to safety protocols in the laboratory.
Collaborate with R&D, quality assurance, and manufacturing teams to align on goals and deliverables.

Nutsche filter operation
Gas Chromatography (GC)
Ultra-Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC)
Mass Spectrometry (MS)
Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR)
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR)

Qualifications:

PhD in Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
2-5 years of experience in process development, scale-up, manufacturing, or related field in industry
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong problem-solving skills, and effective collaboration with cross-functional teams.
