About The Role

Job Title: Kitchen Porter

Hours:

Monday 11-3pm

Tues-Fri 12-4pm.

As a member of the food and beverage team you are effectively the engine room of the kitchen. Working under the guidance of the chef lecturers, the primary aim of the job is to ensure that the kitchen is clean and operational so that classes can commence.

Key responsibilities:

Ensuring the food preparation areas and washup area are clean and hygienic each day
Washing utensils, equipment and dishes, making sure they are stored appropriately
Sorting, storing and distributing ingredients as deliveries are received.
Washing, peeling, chopping, cutting of food products occasionally and helping to prepare salads and basic stocks
Disposing of rubbish in line with college / company policies
Organising linen laundry
Cleaning the food preparation equipment, floors and other kitchen storage areas such as dry store and equipment stores.
Daily interaction with and support of students will be required throughout the day.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with the setting up of the kitchen according to the type of service used, and cleaning of the kitchens in line with HACCP procedures.

Clearing and dismantling same and leave the kitchen in a clean condition daily, completing daily / weekly checklists.

Washing of all crockery, cutlery, cooking and serving utensils and kitchen equipment, clean floors, walls and surfaces in the kitchen and still room, using materials and methods in accordance with best practices.

Perform weekly cleaning tasks as directed by the culinary lecturers in the kitchen store areas, internal and external waste bin and ground level drain areas.

Provide assistance with special function and any other catering services undertaken by the Food & Beverage team.
