OVERVIEW
This role assumes responsibility for managing media sponsorship activity for multiple client
accounts. The role will also act as the main point of contact for both clients and Media Teams
surrounding the day-to-day media sponsorship management activity and supports the Head of
Media Sponsorship in fostering strong relationships with clients.
It requires the use of media planning tools, the effective management of the media sponsorship
processes (briefing, negotiating, management, reporting) and excellent attention to detail and
time management to ensure best in class delivery on behalf of the Sponsorship Practice for
clients.
It also requires strong collaboration and communication with the wider organisation across the
integral teams to ensure that delivery is to the highest standards and relevant opportunities are
brought to clients in a timely and proactive manner. A strong, collaborative working relationship
with colleagues within the practice, agency Media Teams across all levels, Investment and media
owners is a crucial element of this role. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced
environment with a drive to succeed and can multi-task in a deadline driven atmosphere.
Responsibilities
The role of the Sponsorship Client Director assumes the responsibility of project manager for
each media sponsorship from their assigned Media Agency/Agencies and will have the
responsibility of developing the Media Sponsorship rationale for their clients. The role will also
involve meeting and exceeding team revenue targets set in the business plan. The Sponsorship
Client Director will need to foster a strong a working relationship with our colleagues in the
Media Practices and gain a thorough understanding of their client’s key objectives. They will be
the expert in their field on which the Media Teams will rely on for recommendations, advice,
and management. This role is central to the efficient and effective running of the day to day
media sponsorship service and management. This includes the creation and tracking of
sponsorship critical paths, timely and accurate billing/spend projections, delivering relevant
sponsorship opportunities to the highest standard, presenting response to briefs, thinking
proactively and innovatively and always being on the quest to find new and exciting
opportunities for clients. The Sponsorship Client Director will work closely with Investment and
the AV Team to ensure we are offering our clients best in market value and providing insightful
reporting to both clients and Media Teams.
KPIs will include revenue targets, growing the Sponsorship Practice’s reputation internally and
externally, and the media sponsorship service scores in the annual RADAR service review.
AGENCY PERFORMANCE
- Project management of the media sponsorship process, working closely with Media Team
colleagues, Investment, Channel Planning and other integral teams to ensure Sponsorship
Practice output is of the highest standard
- Management of media sponsorship projects from start to end (dealing with client queries,
negotiating with media owners, coordinating reports, monitoring, presenting results)
- Understanding of the key business challenge for their clients and addressing these challenges
with appropriate sponsorship platforms.
- Maintaining strong relationships with media owners and having a deep understanding of their
properties.
- Analyse and understand reports. Use the data generated to provide insights and identify clear
actions to be taken
- Understand how each Practice and integral team within Core can contribute to the overall
plan
- Validate sponsorship campaign delivery and performance and create post campaign reviews
for clients
- Leading sponsorship presentations to clients and agency teams
- Coordinating media owner briefs and delivery
COMMERCIAL PERFORMANCE
- Collection of client POs and manage the internal communication of POs across teams ensuring
effective and efficient month end billing for all media sponsorship activity
- Overall responsibility for billing at the end of each month
- Manage media sponsorship budgets, forecasting and aged debt
- Ensure all billing is 100% accurate and on time for all media sponsorships
TALENT MANAGEMENT
- Commit to the internal training Core Learning programme(s) and regularly attend training for
your development
- Developing understanding of client business, their Key Business Priorities for the year and lead
in creating media sponsorship strategies to deliver against them
- Ensure close collaboration with Media Sponsorship and Media Teams to ensure that they are
enabled to actively assist your development and to ensure the consistent delivery of the highest
standard of agency output
