We are seeking a motivated Junior Process Scientist / Wastewater Treatment Operator to join our growing wastewater operations team. Working alongside experienced operators, supervisors, and process specialists, you will gain exposure to wastewater treatment processes, environmental compliance, laboratory data analysis, process optimisation, and plant operations. No previous wastewater experience is required as full training will be provided.

As a Junior Process Scientist / Wastewater Treatment Operator, you will support the operation, monitoring, and optimisation of one of the countries most advanced wastewater treatment facilities.

Key Responsibilities
Process Monitoring & Compliance

Monitor treatment plant performance and environmental compliance.

Calibration and Maintenance of in process instrumentation.

Review laboratory and operational data to identify trends and process issues.

Assist in investigating non-compliant or out-of-specification results.

Support the implementation and monitoring of corrective actions.

Understand discharge licence requirements and compliance standards.
Site Operations

Conduct routine site inspections and process checks.

Monitor Scada utilising trending for plant monitoring and process control.

Collect wastewater, sludge, and process samples.

Assist with the operation and monitoring of treatment equipment.

Carry out routine maintenance and housekeeping activities.

Support operators in maintaining safe and efficient plant performance.
Data Analysis & Reporting

Record and manage operational and laboratory data.

Produce reports on plant performance and process investigations.

Assist with compliance reporting and client communications.

Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
Continuous Improvement

Support process optimisation projects.

Identify opportunities to improve treatment efficiency and compliance.

Develop practical knowledge of wastewater treatment technologies and processes.
What We're Looking For
Essential

Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Sustainability, or a related discipline.

Strong interest in environmental protection and water management.

Good analytical and problem-solving skills.

Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.

Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Willingness to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Full driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.
Willingness to partake in standby/on call rota.
