Full job description

This is an exciting opportunity for a general manager to oversee the running of our thriving Cafe, deli & Bakery. It is a hands on position, effectively managing teams and reporting to the owner weekly.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Recruitment of new employees, designing training schedule & carrying out performance reviews.
Communicates with team leaders to ensure clarity & common goal.
Works with team leaders to ensure that food preparation is in compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards.
Ensures customer satisfaction with all aspects of the restaurant and dining experience.
Handles customer complaints, resolving issues in a diplomatic and courteous manner.
Estimates food and beverage costs; watches for wasteful practices.
Manages budgets for labour costs.
Manages inventory and purchases food and supplies.
Conducts daily inspection of restaurant and equipment to ensure compliance with health, safety, food handling, and hygiene standards using standardized checklists
Periodically evaluates restaurant equipment for repairs and maintenance; schedules for service.
Maintains sales records and tracks cash receipts.
Prepares and submits operations reports and other documentation requested by the business owner.
Maintain appearance of the staff and building.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
Excellent time management skills.
Excellent budgetary understanding in all areas of the business
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Familiarity with food handling, safety, and other restaurant guidelines.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Proficient with POS systems, preferably Toast
Ability to implement change

Education and Experience:

1-3 years of general management experience in a similar business.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to traverse all parts of the building quickly.
Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
Must be able to lift up to 25 - 30 pounds at times.
